The Failing ‘War on Terror Goes On’

And the Bush Administration Continues to Lie About It...

Share article:

As London erupts, and Bush tells us “the war on terror goes on”, Eric Brewer, BTCNews.com’s man in the White House has a timely posting today on the Administration’s continued fudging of numbers in their Terrorism Reports.

The number of terror incidents continue to rise, even as the Administration attempts to downplay, fudge, obfuscate the numbers in various statements and annual reports wherever possible.

According to Brewer…

The U.S. government’s National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) announced this week that the number of worldwide terrorist attacks that occurred in 2004 was 3,192. This number is almost five times higher than the figure of 651 “significant” attacks that NCTC released on April 27 of this year, after the administration received widespread criticism for attempting to hide a major increase in terrorist incidents by dropping the data from the State Department’s 2004 report on global terrorism.

Brewer’s fine analysis goes on to point out that virtually all of the numbers reported by the Government, completely leave out incidents from Iraq and Afghanistan despite Bush’s continued assertion that these countries are now the “central front in the War on Terror”…

The number of attacks and deaths for 2004 would be even higher if complete data from the “central front in the War on Terror” were included in the administration’s terrorism statistics. The NCTC figures do not include attacks on U.S. troops fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. If they did, the number of deaths in 2004 would be 958 higher, for a total of 4,150, and the number of attacks, at an average of 40 per day in Iraq alone, would be about 14,600 higher, yielding an incredible 17,800.

Need more evidence that you are being lied to and manipulated in this “War on Terror”?

Brewer reports on a new analytical tool available from the “Terrorism Knowledge Base” run by Oklahoma City-based non-profit National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism which is, as Brewer points out, funded by the Department of Homeland Security.

Brewer used the tool to create a graph of Terror Incidents from 1995 to 2004. Compare the years when those pesky “Liberals” who, according to Rove, were fighting terrorism by “prepar[ing] indictments and offer[ing] therapy and understanding for our attackers,” versus the great success of those “Conservatives” and their new “catastrophically successful” approach…

“The war on terror goes on…”

(Brewer, BTCNews.com’s blogger/White House correspondent, was interviewed several weeks ago on The BRAD SHOW along with BTC’s blogmaster Weldon Berger. The archive of that interview is available here in MP3 format.)

    Brad,

It is interesting to think that, had Bush continued to pursue bin Laden at Tora Bora instead of letting him get away, then turn us to Iraq… perhaps those attacks would have gone down in the years since 9/11… d’ya think?

If Gore had been President, 9/11 wouldn’t have happened.

Richard Clarke says Clinton ordered the CIA to kill Osama and
they didn’t get around to it. Clinton wanted attacks on the
al Qaeda camps and the brass said "bad idea."

Richard Clarke developed a plan to go after al Qaeda financially
and militarily. Clinton would have implemented it, but he didn’t
want to pass off to Bush a half-done war.

When Clarke visited Condi, Sandy Berger went along to
underscore the seriouslness of the al Qaeda threat. Condi
rejected Clarke’s plan, and Bush shut down FBI investigations
of suspected terrorist financiers, including those of bin Laden
    relatives.

Under Gore, with Clarke’s plan in effect, our nation would
have been on alert, expecting al Qaeda reprisals.

Under Bush, we ignored warnings from 11 countries and from
FBI agents in Phoenix, Minneapolis, and Chicago. Under
Bush, Osama met with the CIA in the Amrerican Hospital in
Dubai in 7/01 when he was supposedly the most wanted man
on earth. That same month at the G8 in Genoa the Italians
installed SAMs to protect against an expected aerial attack
from… Osama bin Laden! Richard Clarke knew the "Atlanta
Rules" that closed the airspace above the 1996 Atlanta
    Olympics.

And then Condi has the nerve to say nobody ever thought of
using aircraft as weapons! Well why did Bush have 24 hour
fighter cover in Crawford in 8/01?

9/11 would not have happened under Gore, and why the Dems
let Bush paint himself as strong on terror completely baffles me.

But let’s talk about something important, like Michael Jackson
    or that missing white girl.

WhatReallyHappened.com is covering discrepancies in the London stories today, including some interesting financial transaction data. I’m not saying any of this is true but a questioning mind is a survival skill since bush forced his way into our lives.

What are the benefits of a false flag attack on London? I see it
driving a wedge between the Brits and Bush, and greatly
embarassing the Bush regime. After all, they can’t blame this one
on Saddam, and just two weeks ago Goss said he knew where
Osama was–but apparently they didn’t bother to keep an eye on him.

    Remember What bu$h Said:

BuzzFlash Reader Commentary November 13, 2002

[snip] For your amusement and future reference, here’s what Bush has said about bin Laden at various points in time, depending on how he was trying to spin things:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
    – G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I want justice…There’s an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, ‘Wanted: Dead or Alive,’"
    – G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI

"I don’t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority."
    – G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
    – G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden’s whereabouts,
    3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)
    [snip]

    =================================

    Will dumbya’s ratings fall?

[snip] Adding to Bush’s vulnerability at the moment, however, is the fact that most Democrats, who generally stood by the president on foreign-policy matters between the 9/11 attacks on New York and the Pentagon and the onset of last year’s presidential election campaign in the spring of 2004, have been arguing for more than a year now that Bush’s invasion of Iraq had diverted key resources and attention from the war against al Qaeda and other hard-line Islamist groups, effectively undermining that effort.

Analysts here clearly believe that al Qaeda or an offshoot was indeed responsible for the London attacks. ”It has all the earmarks of al Qaeda,” noted Dennis Ross, director of the Washington Institute on Near East Policy (WINEP) and a top U.S. Middle East negotiator under former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

He and other analysts noted the well-planned nature of the attacks, their simultaneity, and the timing to coincide with the first day of the Group of Eight (G-8) Summit at Gleneagles, Scotland — the world’s central news event of the week — as hallmarks of an al Qaeda-like operation. [snip]

Our country is set up to be blown up. A Congress that is so corrupt it can impeach a man for a BJ but is powerless to remove the corrupt men dragging this country and this world the wrond direction or into total destruction. Maybe we the people have to have a little get together in Washington to remove these cheating greedy uncaring losers Wild West style. Our government has let us down! Our Congress and our courts have let us down. Are we suppose to wait for angry suicide bombers to start seeking revenge in our grocery stores because these bastards are driving our country into the ground. Nuclear bombs are not the answer. I’m sure the loyal Republicans will just use the old "economy" excuse. That it takes so long for policy to take effect, that the low terrorism was because of Bush Sr. and not Clinton. the high numbers NOW are because of Clinton.

Just wait for it. I guarantee that is what they will come out with. That or the old excuse that the more terrorist attacks there are, the more the US is winning.

    Mr. Jimmo,

The only loser here is you. Now the world is more un-safe than ever before thanks to the failed policies of the crooks in charge.

A traitor named Karl Rove has leaked sensitive intelligence information, national security is at great risk, terror cells are popping up everywhere in the world this time: and Iran is more dangerous that even before the US invades them, they could nuke somebody.

Thanks to the failed policies, terror is on the march. Not freedom, as Bin Laden laughs and his terrorist network climbs to all new heights of recruitment projections.

Your mentality is so failed it should be flushed down the toilet. By the time the mentality of the likes of you claims freedom and democracy, the world will lie in ruin and billions dead.

Now please, pay no attention to the election fraud behind the curtain!

But these guys are too sophisticated…Smells like another Bush administration fear game! I’m telling you, they did it again.

Someone in Paul Wolfowitz cabinet is just laughing it up that the new terrorist attacks happened……They will now pour billions into invading North Korea, Iran, and finally Africa in order to spread terrorism-err I meant freedom.

I see Jim Sensenbrenner’s posts are being deleted.

Americans are fools. I hear people calling rightwing talk shows, and saying, "What happened in London is exactly why we’re at war." As usual, these people are not challenged with the question, "What does the Iraq War have to do with 9/11?" The media is still the culprit. These people should be challanged before they get off the phone. If they are challenged, they suddenly start stuttering, and have no answers. They are fools, who fell for Bush’s only defense: Call those who question him "unpatriotic". These fools deserve to be in the Iraq War, dying for no reason. Not our troops who were duped. The only power these Neo-Cons have, is our military, that they duped. The question is, how can we cut them off from using our military for their purposes??? They have no power without duping our military into attacking other countries.

These fools are cowards. Those speaking out against the Bush administration, the handful of neo-cons who hijacked our country, are patriotic heroes.

Like Seymour Hersch said, "How fragile was our democracy to begin with, if we let a handful of people hijack our country." I’m not sure if that’s the exact quote, but you get the picture. We don’t have enough checks and balances in our country to prevent this in the first place. It IS fascism. These criminals are not doing what the American people want.

They’re confident only when surrounded by other mindless people who just repeat whatever Rush/Hannity/O’Reilly say, and have not reached their conclusions independently by fact and logic.

President George Bush was busy smirking at a press conference the other night, bragging that he had taken the fight to the terrorist in Iraq. In other words, we’re all safe because the terrorists are tied down fighting us in Iraq. After Thursday, it seems they didn’t stay there. This time it was the U.K. We could be next and if we are, we collectively earned it. We insulted people’s culture, imprisoned their entire nation, and played God with their politics. We tortured and humiliated individuals from the middle-east. This was a recipe for disaster and it’s about time we learned our lesson.
Prime Minister Tony Blair is nothing more than Bush’s lap dog. Many British people already know this, but as with our own country, organized opposition is confined being outside the government. There is no credible opposition to the Blair government today. Unfortunately, while our overconfident issolateda and protected U.S. president smirks on TV about his ability to rain war on other people’s countries, the innocent people of Britain have paid for this policy, some with their lives, other scared for life.

First off, we need to secure the vote.

Second, we then move to rapidly deploy from M.E. region.

Third, we end all aid to all M.E. nations, instead focusing on commerce with said nations, all nations.

Fourth, we reduce military spending by 75% (To China’s level), closing all overseas bases, and focusing on using locally elected, civilain-led militias to defend our shores, with National Guard to supplement. Huge standing armies need something to do, let’s not create that need.

That alone is more effectively going to curtail violent outbursts by desperate zealots, against us.
