Rehnquist Said to Announce Retirement Friday Morning!

Share article:

Received this moments ago from our friend Tony Trupiano of The Tony Show who received it himself via Email just moments after going off the air and thus was not able to run it. He tells The BRAD BLOG that he considers his source for this to be “golden”…

Just spoke to a Senate press secretary who said Republicans on the Judiciary Committee let them know that they should be prepared for Rehnquist to make a statement sometime between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow morning and not to schedule anything during that time. Please be advised.

This report seems to sync up with a report just out at RAW STORY which independently confirms the “tomorrow between 10 and 11 am” timeline, as well as with Bob Novak’s column this morning which reported that “Rehnquist also will announce his retirement before the week is over.”

UPDATE 7/8/05: No retirement announced as of 11am ET today. RAW STORY has more…

Maybe we can put Gonzalez in there? Yeh.. He’s the best of all the Bushit losers they are looking at..right? It was never suppose to be this way when our founding fathers created our AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. Remove all the corrupt men and women ASAP. Don’t want to leave out Condolezza Rice or Catherine Harris and be politically incorrect. If we do not purge out Bush, Cheney and all his scumbag crooked cronnies soon, something bad is really set in place to happen. Probably by another inbred Bushit mistake.

Are things happening faster or is it just my outrage meter spinning out of control? Isn’t there some law of physics that right before something explodes it starts vibrating faster and faster?

    We need a miracle.

Something is terribly terribly wrong when the guy who simply says the Geneva Convention, American law, is moot and quaint (and the president acts on that opinion) can be promoted to a position where he can declare his personal opinion to be the Law of the Land (from the Supreme Court bench).

Yes, we do need a miracle.

I regret that Justice Rehnquist will resign before he can be impeached.

If the Supreme Court had not declared Bush the victor in 2000 and
stopped the counting of votes that would have showed he was not
the victor, 9/11 would not have happened, we would not have
invaded Iraq, and everything would have been different.

Scott said on 7/7/2005 @ 7:16pm PT: [Permalink]

Rehnquist should be punished no matter what, we should make sure Justice Rehnquist goes to jail or is publically slandered.

The man enabled actual terrorists to invade the White House named Richard Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney and Judith Miller. He should be forced to wear that shame for the rest of his days, period, regardless of circumstance.

Man, this is very, very scary. Nothing is beneath Bush, this is very scary. so OF COURSE he will recess-appoint Bolton. the only thing that will stop it is Bolton’s own ego–I heard the man might be too insulted to accept the job is he’s appointed without Sentate confirmation. Don’t hold your breath.

And yup, we’re going to have two major Supreme Court battles as Bush picks Gonzales and someone else even more rephrensible–are we forgetting Asscroft? Hello!

This and a "terror attack" in the same week. I tell you, Scott Ritter was right. There’s no stopping these maniacs for a good 10-15 years. They are going to have to self-destruct to be stopped, leaving the US a smoking ruin in the process.

Everybody remember: 9/24 in DC–the ImpeachBush.org impreachment rally. Sign up on their website. Can the major media ignore 500,000 people marching on Washington? Let’s find out.

What a nice parting gift to their party from these two GOP stalwarts and former law school mates. Hopefully PFAW and others will be smart enough to pick their battles, and not drain resources trying to fight two nominees. If we’re lucky, Bush will go ahead and nominate Gonzales and the Freepers will fight him on their own…

I have been so hopeful with DSM, Rove actually indicted on something. All the incredible proof about Bushco altering docs on global warming, endangered spiecies, welfare for oil companies. ETC. ETC. ETC.
Now this tragic bombing in London will allow Bush to catapult the fear.

COLLEEN said on 7/7/2005 @ 8:46pm PT: [Permalink]

My point about the Supreme Court used to be let the Repugs nominate a judge that is against choice. Many moderates and most of America are pro choice. Thus a backlash.
But this is scary. Corporations are the real power in America. This the neo-cons real agenda.

Right-winger hatespeech on radio says this quote about Bin-Laden:

"The reason, we did not go in and get Bin-Laden…….Is the pakistani border, that area in Tora Bora, is politically complicated. It’s too dangerous."

What…..in……the…..hell is this idiot? He just said "Kick all arabs out of the country" What?

If it was too dangerous to get Bin-Laden, why in the hell did we sent thousands to their death in IRAQ which was over 4 times as dangerous!???? IS THIS THE TYPICAL HATE-SPEECH OF RIGHT-WINGERS NOW?

Holy moly…these people are insane, hypocritical cowards. How in the hell was "Tora Bora" too dangerous but half the world and all the terrorists after us now, aren’t as dangerous….

From every corner they come to the city. And in every cityfrom every corner they come, day after
day- unknowing, broken, and heartsick moving things, to look for the work that is no longer there, the steady, adequately rewarded work. But it is gone. It has gone to countries where toil is dirt cheap. Do not be mistaken, do not be blinded by the glare of everwhere-lights, cruelly never not on. There is no warmth to them. It is a cold and brutish age.

I think Blair will do the right thing and draw troops out of Iraq finally and leave the cess pool….Especially before his own government indicts him.

UK troops already scheduled to withdraw from Iraq, re-deployment to Afghanistan, where they belonged all the time.

More bad news for Dick Tricky Cheney….

    http://www.rawstory.com/exclusi...er_secrecy.htm

"Jim Sharp" will be the lawyer representing the administration officials, Bush, Dick Cheney and possibly someone else.

This man has the most colorful past you will ever see, and is a Iran(q)-Contra veteran lawyer….Who forced his witnesses into committing perjury.

Under the circumstances of the indictments laid out, Sharp will be defending.

What’s he going to do? This entire Valerie-Plame affair in NigerGate is bringing the White House touted DSM meetings into the public spotlight.

This whole thing is going to explode shortly…

This is all way too convenient that 2 supreme court justices are retiring so close together under this particular administration. Too convenient.

I suspect Bush will appoint some unacceptable people and the Senate will battle again and will finally eliminate the filibuster.

Then they will finally have total control.

    Will the revolution be televised?

Medium Left said on 7/8/2005 @ 5:22am PT: [Permalink]

Bush won the election and therefor has the right to appoint Justices. This battle needed to be fought during the election but the democrats couldnt get themselves together to beat him.

Now that he has won, the constitution gives him the power to appoint who he sees fit. If you have a problem with that then change the constitution.

    "Bush won the election "

Medium, there is a lot of reason to doubt that. 35 million
unverifiable votes are nothing but electronic hearsay.

Exit polls showed a Kerry win by 3%. Expert statisticians
at USCountVotes.org have calculated that the probability that
the discrepancy is due to chance is 1:960,000 and have
debunked the "Chatty Dem" theory. They’ve called for release
of the exit poll raw data for investigation and a study of the
hardware and software of the voting machines.

Ron Baiman at U of Chicago has also debunked the
    Chatty Dem theory.

Exit polls dont mean anything. Hanging your hat on them is ridiculous. You guys sitting in here believing this crap and thinking Bush had something to do with the terror attacks shows how far away from reality you have become.

You are HURTING your own party with this crap.

"Exit polls dont mean anything. Hanging your hat on them is ridiculous."

It was the results of the exit polls, done by the same Mitovsky who did the American election exit polls, which forced them to do a second election in the Ukraine.

If it was good enough for the Ukraine and all the experts say these polls are VERY accurate and they were, in fact, accurate for the senatorial elections of 2004, then why aren’t they a good indicator for the presidential race?

The burden is really on the Repubs to show why they weren’t accurate — not on the Dems to show they were accurate.

I don’t think this will plug up his numbers anymore…..I think people will see through the lies now.

Not many even watch the stupid cable news anymore, even the most uninformed….And most of them when listening to the radio, listen for the full story.

I think Blair will do the right thing and draw troops out of Iraq finally and leave the cess pool….Especially before his own government indicts him.

If he doesn’t, I expect the U.K. will become as much of a disaster as America…..No matter what for us, riots in the streets will be what takes these people down. And remember DSM is still the front of all things, DSM, DSM DSM….Tell everyone you know what it means.

" You are trying to throw a president out of office and you think the burden is on the reps?

You people are the reason we lose election after election."

The "reps"? Do you mean the Republicans or the Representatives?

The weight of evidence is building, to the point where it can hardly be ignored. It’s only since the media hasn’t informed the public that the pressure hasn’t forced the House of Representatives to act. Once that pressure shifts they’ll have to act or lose their seats in an election. At that time the weight of evidence will be an avalanche and it will hardly matter what efforts the Bush admin might make to defend themselves. Truth will out.

We aren’t the reason the Dems keep losing. It’s the uninformed public who continue to vote against their own self-interest and for Republican presidents. And, it’s the Republicans who are liars and thieves.

Of course, if the Republicans don’t wish to respond that’s their privilege. But, when the axe swings it’ll be too late for them to claim the trial was one-sided.

There is evidence, but Bush & Co. think they’re immune because the media isn’t telling the public. But, there have been a few court cases and there will be more; then the public will be informed, even if it’s only a six or seven hundred bloggers in a courtroom.

  33. 42)
Scott said on 7/8/2005 @ 8:40pm PT: [Permalink]

    Medium Left,

You sound "medium right" as the evidence is undeniable that the election was stolen.

    http://www.expertclick.com/News...l&ID=9474

This was another selection in the making and once you view all the evidence, I think you will have to agree. This is not about anything more than right and wrong, and Howard Dean is the only one who has our voice now. He stands against what is wrong, and pulls no punches.
