  1. Too bad they don’t replay this for the deluded ‘Tea Baggers’ before they sit down to listen to an ignorant toad like Glenn Beck.

  2. Beck’s so-called “Restoring Honor” rally “has drawn especially strong criticism from civil rights leaders aligned with Democrats. Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, the NAACP and other groups were to lead a ‘Reclaim The Dream’ counter rally and march to the mall.

“In ’63, they went to Washington for a strong national government to protect civil rights,” Sharpton said in an interview earlier this week. “He and Palin are going there for a weak national government and to advocate state rights.”

I’d take it a step further.

In 1963 Dr. King went seeking to fulfill the egalitarian promise of the Declaration of Independence. Palin and Beck, as the paid for political stooges of the billionaire-funded ‘Tea Party’ movement are deceptively misleading the uninformed, angry ‘Tea Baggers’ into actions designed to destroy that egalitarian promise.

He’s also boring the crap out of them at today’s rally.

Have been live tweeting it all morning via hash tag #Beckapalooza.

  4. Thank you for the reminder, Brad! The world has been looking so pretty that I needed a good cry. MLK was the last Great American, IMO. Imagine an RFK/MLK ticket in 68!!!!!!!!!! Gotta bet the culprit was Dick Nixon before etc…

  5. So I’m guessing God didn’t make an actual appearance at todays all-white Tea Klan rally…

If you see Her show up, make sure to tweet about it ok Brad?

  6. As our “reality” continues to be thwarted, by asses like Beck, let’s take a look at how serious the problem of media honesty (the lack of it). This documentary is so important to share with people. Please share it with others. Please watch it too. It is enlightening! Well worth the hour and a half. Good to watch with company. Very thought provoking. Great conversation will follow too.

  7. In Glenn Beck Is Not Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Greenwald writes:

Martin Luther King Jr…gave voice to the voiceless and his vision promoted a just, equal, diverse and compassionate country.

This year, a very different message is going to be spread from the very ground on which King once stood….

The racist, raging and hate-filled tenor of Beck, Palin and the Tea Party movement is in direct contrast to the noble vision of Dr. King.

  8. Good Lord!! I was there today and now I prepare for my trip back home tomorrow.

Two observations for me………First, Beck sounds as though he is running for political office in 2012. Second, he just doesn’t know when to make a point and then stop talking. He talked too long (as usual).

With that said, Blacks do not own any holiday nor do they own MLK’s speech day. It’s called free speech and anyone can speak that day. Once again Blacks with racist ideas that they can do anything they want to do or take what they want to take. MLK is an American like the rest of us so Whites can also appreciate his famous speech!! I wish we could outlaw the “-” in the word “American”.

  9. Magnolia @8

You are correct. Frankly I heard no black folk claim ownership of August 28th or MLK. I am a black man I know that MLK belonged to humanity, his words belong to the ages and his being is with God.

But the shyster Glenn Beck choosing August 28th, Washington DC, the Lincoln memorial and the proverbial cloak of Dr.King from that historical day for his own self promotion is well…really, really tacky.

    yes ?….no ?

  10. In my home I was always taught that MLK’s greatest gift was to the white community…he freed many (sadly, not all) of us from the soul-poisoning racism that was crippling us.

  11. The March on Washington was a great day for America. Today was sad and pathetic.

Martin’s Dream speech deserves all the praise it has gotten. To me though, the very coolest thing about that wonderful day was that Bob Dylan played a few songs before the speech(of course seceral other performers also did their things).

Such evidence of inclusion was, I’m fairly certain, absent from today’s festivities. I did not watch. Were any militant rappers invited on stage?

Bob sang “Only a Pawn in Their Game” which has some very racially lyrics including:

“A south politician preaches to the poor white man
You got more than the blacks dont complain
You’re better n then you been born w/white
    skin don’t complain”

“And he’s taught how to walk in a pack
    Shoot in the back
With his fist in a clinch
    To hang and to lynch
    To hide neath the hood
    To kill w/no pain
Like a dog on a chain”

Brutally honest. In your face TRUTH.

He also did “When The Ship Comes In” w/Joan Baez

Just thought you all would like to know.

  12. sorry 4 all the typos

of course BD was much too amazing a lyricist to use complain twice like that, the second one should be “they explain”

  13. I wonder how many at today’s shindig know that Coretta Scott King and her children went to court to get James Earl Ray exonerated because they know he did not kill Martin.

How many know a United States court found the government guilty of MLK’s murder?
