I Have a Dream Too…

…It goes like this:

(As Obama finishes taking his oath…)

OBAMA: …and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God…

JUSTICE ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President.

OBAMA: Thank you.

(The 44th President of the United States then turns, and points to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, both sitting near him on the dais…)

OBAMA: Mr. Attorney General, arrest those two men.

  1. paul krugman summed up my thoughts in the following quote,

“In fact, we’ve already seen this movie. During the Reagan years, the Iran-contra conspirators violated the Constitution in the name of national security. But the first President Bush pardoned the major malefactors, and when the White House finally changed hands the political and media establishment gave Bill Clinton the same advice it’s giving Mr. Obama: let sleeping scandals lie. Sure enough, the second Bush administration picked up right where the Iran-contra conspirators left off – which isn’t too surprising when you bear in mind that Mr. Bush actually hired some of those conspirators.

Now, it’s true that a serious investigation of Bush-era abuses would make Washington an uncomfortable place, both for those who abused power and those who acted as their enablers or apologists. And these people have a lot of friends. But the price of protecting their comfort would be high: If we whitewash the abuses of the past eight years, we’ll guarantee that they will happen again.”

  2. Dream on. While PEBO will be better than PEJM, there will be tough decision not made nor actions taken.

  3. It’ll probably go more like this:

“Let’s end the bitter bipartisanship of the last eight years. Let’s work together to insure that America remains the strongest nation in the world. Let’s put aside our differences and join in tackling the great task before us. It won’t be easy, sacrifices will be required, but united we can and will succeed.”

Or some such. But, one can dream!

  4. “it’s true that a serious investigation of Bush-era abuses would make Washington an uncomfortable place”

    kinda like Iraq about now?

    but less body bags needed.
Justice NEEDS to be seen to be done !
And never forget Gaza you paid for it.

  5. Nope…it will be one excuse after the other why we can’t get out of Iraq and why we can’t handle the health care crisis and why people continue losing their homes. I figure at least he’ll use the GWB excuse for one year? Until we get OUT of Iraq and until this government acknowledges and prosecutes the crimes of this administration this country and its’ people will languish in misery!

  6. Maybe we need to establish some sort of statute of limitations on how long we can blame Bush and then Obama has to take accoutability.

BHO is inheriting 2 (3?) wars, a horific economy and a whole lot of generally bad decisions on anything from education to torture to global warming, etc. I expect him to hit the ground running, but soon we’ll hear him blameing the Rethugs and Blue Dogs for blocking all of his brilliant efforts. I wanted to stop the war. Couldn’t do it. I wanted to clase Gitmo. Couldn’t do it. I wanted to expand health care. Couldn’t do it. I wanted to… well you know, then I had to run for re-election. Blah Blah Blah….

Bushco, btw, will never be prosecuted for ANYTHING! You may as well get over that wet dream and MoveOn.

  7. Here is the reality:

The American people know when their elections have been stolen.

Point in case; although the media didn’t cover it, we all saw the REAL inauguration of George W. Bush in Michael Moore’s movie. Thousands of protesters forced Bush’s motorcade to GUN IT!

Obama’s inauguration is getting unprecedented coverage, and everybody knows he won.

    What a contrast!

  8. I think we ALL need to put on our ruby slippers, close our eyes, and all together now…

There’s NO place like JAIL… There’s NO place like JAIL…

Waxman? Conyers? You DO have those ruby slippers for us…DON’T YOU???

  9. Why don’t you armchair quarterbacks stick to football, or something that you actually know something about. The American people would shudder if they knew about what every past administration has done behind closed doors. As Jack Nicholson so aptly put it, “The truth? You can’t handle the truth!” The Bush era is over, so why don’t you get over it too. I had the same feeling when the Clinton era was over, but didn’t go to the trouble of printing obnoxious t-shirts and such…

  10. Yeah, Al, don’t you think it would be better all around if we didn’t have to shudder when we learned what they were doing behind our backs? Don’t you think it would be better if we prevented them from doing things behind our backs? Don’t you think it would be better if they got arrested for what they did behind our backs? Don’t you think obnoxious t-shirts are too light a punishment for that unAmerican shit that goes on in the White House?

I can handle the truth. Looks as though Brad can handle it. You’re the one suggesting we just forget the truth, chalk it up to business-as-usual.
