I voted McCain because there are simply enough dumb shits out there to buy this.
The ad is well-crafted bullshit, which will aid McCain with stupid people and fence people (well, at this point they may be one and the same), and Obama supporters aren’t going to be fazed. He could easily seem arrogant to the uninformed and casual observer. But from someone who is hanging on the Democratic party by a thread (me) he had better goddamn be THE ONE or we are all well fucked.

Sounds like a bit of envy and a lot of desperation to me. As for the stupid sheeple and fence people … there is no help for them. Despite all the means to read and know your candidate and thir plans for our country they refuse to use the energy to do it. Beer and ball games far more important and afterall, Faux will tell them what is going on and who to vote for.
Hahahaha I can almost believe that Obama’s people made this ad…it seems so tongue-in-cheek. His popularity IS a bit crazy. He’s become like the Beatles in ’64. All he needs to say now is “I’m more popular than Jesus” lol.
I confess, never having met the man, I do have my doubts about Obama, although I’ll certainly vote for him. I only hope he proves to be as sincere as he seems.

The real question facing the American people is why the US Government seems more concerned with protecting Israel after they are caught playing these dirty tricks, rather than doing something to convince Israel not to kill any more Americans.

My religious right “Christian” grandmother would call this ad “total blasphemy.” Republicans are notorious for preying on the emotions and fears of religious people, while patronizing them for their votes.
And after they patronize them to win elections, then Republicans ridicule them.
Whomever created that ad is preying on innocent, under-educated people while stirring hate and creating fear and suspicion among those less educated or prone toward racism.
It would be interesting to find out where these hate-mongers are hiding their white sheets.

The McCain TV ad is not just intended to ridicule Obama’s popularity, but it is specifically designed to frighten dominionists, fundamentalists and evangelicals, who will understand the coded references to descriptions made in the Bible’s New Testament Book of Revelations, implying that Obama is the “antichrist.”
The ad is outrageous and represents a new low in American presidential election politics.
I cannot believe! With the important issues today, Iraq,price of oil, economy, how can ANYONE possibly have their eye off the ball with all this negative campaign crap?? It’s a great analysis of this ad and near the bottom is a break-down of all the crazy illusions to the rapture, the Left Behind series, Obama being the anti-Christ, Revelation, and a plethora of other religious icons and imagery. This ad isn’t a joke and it was not made light-heartedly, as the McCain camp has said. Every word and scene was deliberate and potentially damaging to the Obama campaign because it feeds on people’s misguided fears. Worth a look:

Ok, Googled it: The title is The Wrecking Crew. And Jesus in a jar, aren’t there at least two dozen reasons why he should be impeached? Holy CRAP already.
Don’t you have the feeling—oh man, I’ve probably said this before–repeating myself again–but don’t you feel like we’re all in the same room, talking only to each other? Like some creepy, nightmare cocktail party. We’re locked in & don’t realize that everything we say–all the heartfelt articles, all the protests, all the films, all the documented evidence–none of it ever actually touches the people who call the shots in the world. They’re in a separate, sound-proof, reality-proof, heartbreak-proof room. I think that room is held together by wealth and distance. Enough wealth to keep enough distance.
Oh sure, some of our bluster & passion & heartbreak comes from excellent & learned people & gets published in respected journals and even makes its way around the world! But this room we’re in transcends nations & space & time. And after a while all the bluster & passion & heartbreak gets quietly pushed down a chute into some dark, dank furnace of oblivion, where it gets burned to cinders. And then the next load comes down.
And we just keep on, in this room, and they keep on in theirs.
