Just as important as the voting machine issue is the issue of voter suppression. Why is it alright for legal voters to not be given a chance to use their right to vote? Why is it alright for states to overly restrict voter registration drives? Why is it alright to use ballots that are confusing and lack complete instructions? Today a US House committee met, after very little notice, to mark-up a bill that would keep hundreds of thousands of elderly, minorities and poor voters from being able to vote in Nov. This bill, HR-4484, would require every voter in the US to re-register to vote and to prove they are citizens and all before this November. This bill was replaced with another bill that will give us all another year but the substitute bill is even more restrictive in nature. Why is this alright? / On Wednesday EFF filed a brief with the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, asking the court to reject a request to dismiss an EFF lawsuit against the Ohio secretary of state and governor. The suit alleges the defendants abdicated their responsibilities to ensure Ohio residents had a right to vote. / Montgomery Co. Maryland is hiring the Election Center to investigate their failures. Sigh!!…

Republicans simply do not understand the concept of compromise. Winning is the ONLY thing they care about. They prefer to think that somehow, if they win, everybody wins in America, and no amount of evidence to the contrary will ever persuade them.
Rush Limbaugh is there every day to assure them that this principal is the cornerstone of logic! The poor drag us down. The rich pull us up. It doesn’t matter which of the two actually works harder for their society as a whole.
That is why they only pass laws that benefit themselves, even if it disenfranchises the rest of the world and the people in their own country.
I hate people who take what should be mine or somebody else’s and laugh. Rich OR Poor. What about you, Limbaugh? Do you think it’s funny when somebody votes and doesn’t get represented by that vote?
Liar!
The reason I asked on another thread about differences in Diebold TS and TSx systems is because here in Nevada County, California our Board of Supervisors (as John reported awhile back) have voted to spend a $250,000 to rent Diebold TSx touchscreen machines for the November election. (The first I heard of the upcoming vote was from the newspaper on the morning of the meeting – a little late — It was already a done deal by the time I knew it was coming to a vote.) I want to have my facts straight in presenting to the Supervisors and others the latest damning report by computer scientists.
On Tuesday, the Supervisors aproved $130,000 for Diebold “support”. (I fully intended to speak at that meeting, but my mother had heart failure the night before and had to be rushed to the hospital. I just couldn’t make it. It was a very unfortunate missed opportunity to overwhelm the Supes with facts, although there were some dissenting speakers.) BTW, someone in a letter to the editor did an analysis and figured that what we are paying to rent Diebold machines averages to over $7.00 per voter.
My goal is to let local citizens know what they are facing and to follow through with whatever citizen action and oversight is necessary (including, of course, chain of custody procedures and logs.)
What became of the San Francisco court action? Did I miss that?
http://www.rockymountainnews.co...994042,00.html“>This article is a very good one, but the very last paragraph (which is what RawStory lead with) scared the hell out of me.
If Democrats vote absentee, then the results will be closer, allowing the Rethuglican thieves and criminals to “install” their “apparent winner” without ever counting the absentee votes, just as they did in the CA-50. THIS IS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE — A MASSIVE MIS-CALCULATION. ARE DEMOCRATS IN COLORADO __REALLY__ THIS STUPID?
Arry:
I’m pretty sure we have the TSx here, and they are HUGE. They don’t look much like the one in the hacking video.
