2. NY Post Now Wasting Tax Dollars:

   The FBI’s 5PM briefing tonight emphasized that only the photos they are releasing should be deemed credible and that all other photos “unnecessarily divert the public’s attention in the wrong direction and create undue work for vital law enforcement resources”.

   As the tragedy was unfolding, we saw an inordinate number of wrong, exaggerated or intentionally race-baiting media coming from News Corp. The NY Post falsely reported 12 dead, refusing to retract the headline for hours. They next claimed a Muslim man was “in custody”, prompting BPD to debunk them live on TV.

   Then they said the Muslim man was “under heavy guard” when the truth was he was simply recovering in a hospital which had increased security – for everyone.

   Then the WSJ said “undetonated devices” had been found when in truth it was merely abandoned packages.

   Fox News hosted a commentator who said mosques should be shut down and Rep. Peter King said the attack had “the hallmarks of al Qaeda”.

   The NY Post publishing pictures of innocent brown-skinned men on the front page, implying they were suspects, without any evidence seems ripe for a lawsuit. Again, the FBI and police had to take precious time to explain that anyone posting their own pictures is not only irresponsible, they are making it HARDER to catch the actual suspects.

   The next step is to question why we have to put up with such reckless reporting and intentional deception if it is so harmful to the public interest.
