There were a lot of pretty impressive speeches at this week’s Democratic National Convention. Many of the very smart headline speeches, such as Michelle Obama’s, Bill Clinton’s, and Joe Biden’s, received plenty of coverage. Some of the shorter, but very noteworthy rallies, like Deval Patrick’s and Ted Strickland’s and Lilly Ledbetter’s, also, deservedly, received a fair bit of notice.
But for pure ass-kickin’ and theatrics, the winner, at least among those we’ve been able to see so far, must go to Jennifer Granholm, Michigan’s Democratic Governor from 2003 to 2011 and now prime-time Current TV host.
My initial take after watching it online late last night: Just “Wow!”
Her speech yesterday was short, but incredibly potent and she lit the hall on fire with it in the bargain. If you didn’t catch it previously, it’s well worth a quick look for the history books. What a pity that she’s Canadian-born…

Just wow.
W…ell written.
O…ver acted.
W…orthy of a Samantha Bee skit on The Daily Show.
She never spoke like that when she was our Governor. I guess having her own ‘prime time’ show boosted her confidence.
Thank you. That’s the third time I’ve watched that clip and I have to say – I AM FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! Holy Cow that was excellent!
That was a Jennifer that I had never seen. It was a great delivery among a series of excellent speeches.
The ass-kickingest speech was by Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver and it’s not even close. Jennifer Granholm’s speech just seemed over-acted and hammy, even if it was well-written.
GIANTSLOR,thanks dude,but link!
