Our own Jeannie Dean — longtime reader, supporter and commenter at The BRAD BLOG, years-long Election Integrity champion, and now OccupyLA rep — brings the gospel of the Occupation to RT (formerly Russia Today)…
Says Jeannie to the whole wide world via RT: “We have already changed the narrative from deficit spending to jobs and to the economic disparities and the social injustice as we are seeing through our banking system, and the hijacking and corruption inherent in our banking and political system.”
Way to sing it, JD! You do us proud! Great job! And keep making noise!

Well done, Jeannie
Thanks, Brad-fly! The post, the video, the tweet, and the kind words – I’m truly honored.
More over, mad love and respect to you, Ernest and Des for ALL of your outstanding coverage of #occupy, Brad. Superlative journalism (I’m sure that Pulitzer is in the mail) crystalizing all the reasons we are occupying for those sad folks at Fox News who seem so very confused and frightened by it all.
(Actually, I find their unfavorable coverage of us highly amusing. They really are lookin’ more desperate and unhinged than ever – should’ve mentioned THAT to RT as a major occupy victory, too.)
Keep up the great work, Brad. Thank you for being my Walter Cronkite.
(And thank you, Ernie, for helping out in the chat room for last night’s Malloy! Great radio, last night, you guys! Listened to you guys from the sound vault – sorting German THE X-FILES DATs.)
JEANNIE, I would say “be all you can be” but someone else co-opted that.
You under-rate yourself dear 😀 Thanks Brad
Quick update to my own reporting:
There were 47 peaceful arrests of occupiers in Los Angeles on Thursday over the course of the day from the two marches that took place in solidarity with occupy wall street civil disobedience events. All those arrested had trained for, and were expecting, to be arrested.
In fact we had coordinated our own peaceful arrests with the LAPD beforehand. Together LAPD and occupiers made a beautiful, peaceful show…
The occupiers were charged with “trespassing” – a misdemeanor – and released the next day.
At the time of this interview (12:00pm PT) we were still marching / only had one confirmed arrest at that time.
Yay Jeannie! You go girl. And what a world, eh? We need to tune in to Russian TV for the real news? LOLZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Wow! Fantastic article in this week’s edition of LA Weekly “The Zen of Chief Charlie Beck”:
http://www.laweekly.com/2011-11-17/news/the-zen-of-lapd-chief-charlie-beck/
What a contrast to the brutality other occupations are facing! I nominate Chief Charlie for Brad’s featured HERO Police officer of the OCCUPY movement – for modeling how other police departments might, and *should*, proceed.
(Thanks, D! xoxo! Calling you in 30!)
Right on the spot Jeannie!
LA is ahead of it’s time on this one. Things are moving really fast these days, but, almost a month ago, a local radio station conducted an interview with two experts on the movement: Chris Hedges and Jerry Stahl, (who has been hanging around your terf).
I thought you and others would find this very interesting. Also the host of the show has been very active in the Salt Lake chapter of OWS and even got arrested when they tore down our encampment. A really intelligent voice who puts himself right on the front line.
Hope you have the time to enjoy this interview. It’s an important one!
By the way, according to OWS members here, the town hall meeting held on the 17th here – after the raid – was the largest yet. When people show up, not expecting to be paid in America, I think that says something.
From an earlier time; Keep on Truckin‘
Of course Yusuf’s/Cat’s song was written recently in recognition of Egypt’s powerful uprising. I love it!
Great work Jeannie Dean!!!
But that Russian TV guy(with a most curious Russian accent)pronounces your name “Jenny” which weirded me. YOU were clear and adorable but please tell me I haven’t been mispronouncing your name like “genie” or gee knee in my head all these years.
So nice to see/hear you speaking for us.
Thanks for all the lovely feedback, you guys.
Means the world.
Ha! Lasagna – you are right, and Kevin Owen is wrong. It is indeed GEE-NEE. I’m giving Kevin a pass on a mistake that is often made confusing ‘J’ names.
Larry B – thank u! And got that link to the interview with Chris Hedges / listening to it right now as I prepare to go down for a quick nappy. Great info re: how Salt Lake occupy is doing; I’ve been trying to follow you since last week when you guys were given notice, but haven’t seen the SL occupy feed in recent days.
Great news that you’re OWS peeps and their supporters are coming back even stronger; tends to be the trend from occupy to occupy under brutal attack / threat of eviction. Very hopeful..
How many were at the town hall, do you know?
WooOOOOT! Check out this amazing video from our Friday night (Nov. 18th) General Assembly in LA – incredibly moving and inspiring testimonials…
Occupy LA – arrested occupiers report back to GA
http://youtu.be/sdscKhhXHUM
I’m so very proud of you, Los Angeles!
The great speech from the fella at the end re: “pizza” and the smiling cops – that’s my friend Richard. I adore him.
He always speaks this eloquently at GA / a great wit and peacekeeping force at occupyLA.
Jeannie:
I was at the town hall meeting and there were only about 50 people, but it was held in the greatest public library in the nation. You have got to see this place to believe it! It is, simply, an architectural wonder.
Utahn’s love real education as opposed to the myth that we are “creationists” – or, more recently “intelligent designists”. We have been ill defined, but that is just my opinion. I also have an asshole. 🙂
I never trusted the punch-cards and I sure don’t trust the – what is it now – Dominion voting system?
Jeannie Dean @12–
First of all- I love you.
Second of all–thank you for posting that LA video. It made me cry.
Third of all–A lot.
Fourth of all–this movement is making me so happy. I’ve been saying for so many years that we have to have revolution, that we need to change EVERYTHING. And now without me doing anything I finally feel that I have company, I have so much company of so many people who see the same things I do. I knew I wasn’t really alien.
*.cbslocal.com is a big enemy of *occupy*
they always report bad things in a bad light with bad people and good honest honorable public officials who never do anything bad.
Their forums and blogs are controlled by blackhat SEO political psyop spam. They berate anything which doesn’t fit their op.
(I’ll take a break from dumping more bad green news – we have enough problems local now – I actually kind of wish these solar companies would succeed, instead of fail on the taxpayers already overloaded backs, and make cheap panels for joe 6-pak, thereby lifting this load – although how can I take anything serious from the EU or their subs when they say water does not hydrate? Gee what does then? OIL? they want world bank, world government? I don’t think so.)
The general message is protesters are dirty, stinky, stupid, psycho, violent, socialist
But cbs doesn’t have the timcam, timcam (search for wearetheother99 is journalism 3.0!
what’s the point parking all those tv vans along the side and all those wires and equipment when they won’t put a camera in people’s face all day long, failing to scurry around and get the big picture with their stupid 50LB cameras.
timcam steps it up a notch. timcam finds streets which are like nazi germany, papers please. Timcam finds photographers smashed in the face. Timcam finds snatch and grabs. timcam gets 18 hours straight of reporting!!!
cbs is by far the worst attacker of occupy
you want to beat them better study the hardware from timcam!
starting with several energizer 18000’s and then I don’t know what else. Maybe someone can dig that up?
Oh yes, let me not forget good on “Jeannie Dean” for getting out there.
I had a bad chopping problem with the video above until I found Jeanniedean-RT-Nov182011.mp4 on youtube youtube.com/watch?v=T5iHGzay2nY
I only disagree with her on the corporate media usuals taking swings at *occupy* abc, cbs, fox, pbs, nbc all of em. but I especially hate *.cbslocal.com they seem to really have the most hissing noise.
We might not agree on global warming, but I think we agree things are screwed up with our government, and until we fix that, nothing is going to matter pretty soon, except getting a gun to protect your money.
hopefully you will allow these posts. So people don’t think I am all bad.
Crack a smile; says it all!
The Green Police–
Not sure if the end of your comment #18 means you don’t believe in global weirding but I’d echo you in asserting that unless we address the causes contributing to THAT, and soon, nothing is going to matter and a gun ain’t gonna keep Mother Nature and Gaia away.
Why does it say on my comment #21–“Your comment is awaiting moderation.”?
Wow, just saw this! Nicely done Jeannie!
