PETER FALK, 1927 – 2011
I must say, I am particularly saddened by this one. Yes, I was a very big fan.
The “Hello From Peter” page, the front page of Falk’s website until he became ill from Alzheimer’s, helps make his charms immediately apparent (see below)….

…Oh, and just one more thing, ma’am…Aside from his best-known role as TV’s Columbo (for which he won 4 Emmy awards), and his inimitable performance in the original 1979 The In-Laws (one of the funniest films of all time), I should mention that Falk was long-ago revealed to have been an actual angel on this earth all along by Wim Wender’s 1987 German masterpiece Wings of Desire. If you’ve not experienced it (the real one, as opposed to the 1998 American remake, City of Angels with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan) find the time to do yourself the favor.
Here’s a few clips…
Rest in peace, Lieutenant…

I love this movie.
He was so outstanding in it that you had to keep pinching yourself to remember that he wasn’t a German actor.
Stellar film.
I’ll never forget Peter Falk.
He was sort of a symbol of some of blogdom’s journalism.
He didn’t have the fancy clothes or cars, yet he had a knack for getting at the truth of the matter.
My heart is deeply saddened at the passing of Peter Falk. Not only was he a genius of an actor, but he was a wonderful artist. My condolences to his family.
I am so happy to have visited his website when it was available, so I could see some of his artwork.
I have been caring for my mother who has dementia for 12 years…it is an exhausting 24/7 job. This disease is heart-wrenching, and robs a family of a beloved member.
Thank you for pointing out the Wim Wender films. I, too, found that the most appropriate send off for this unique Angel-now re-immortalized…
My late mother loved Columbo. Just for bringing her and me, and millions of others, some better than average entertainment, besides the fact that he seemed to be a decent person in real life, hats off to the memory of Mr. Peter Falk.
