Every week, the Tea Party Nation hosts a weekly radio program, calling itself a “home for conservatives.†Two weeks ago, Tea Party Nation President Judson Phillips hosted the program and discussed changes that he felt should be made to voting rights in the United States. He explained that the founders of the country originally put “certain restrictions on who gets the right to vote.†He continued, “One of those was you had to be a property owner. And that makes a lot of sense, because if you’re a property owner you actually have a vested stake in the community. If you’re not a property owner, you know, I’m sorry but property owners have a little bit more of a vested interest in the community than non-property ownersâ€
Astounding. This is now where we are. Beyond that, no comment necessary.
But if you’d like some, see ThinkProgress, for some historical context, as well as the audio clip from the program.

So do I have to be free and clear of my mortgage to be considered a property owner? And if my wife is not listed on the deed, she’s fucked? and my kids that are 18 or older and live in our home screwed also?
So I served as an U.S. Army infantyrman in combat, and Judson Phillips wants to take away my right to vote because I am not a landowner!
Some of the founders’ other restrictions on voting were you had to be male and white. The Constitution also allowed slavery. Ah, the good ol’ days- right teabaggers?
Next requirement: you must be employed
Wake up America You voted for these republician assholes!
Bring back the Whigs and the Carpetbaggers!
He’s a self-described “Tea-Bagger”….Are we supposed to expect anything more than moronic statements like the one above?
I certainly don’t.
Tea anyone?
Judson Phillips is a fool, so all our military personnel, firemen, policemen and elderly who don’t own property can’t vote?
How about all people who have filed bankruptcy can’t vote (like Judson Phillips), or those who fail to answer basic questions about our country history can’t run for public office (like Sarah Palin or Christine O’donnell), how about that, please.
So what do you think these losers want next, SLAVES?
