The conservative victories in favor of the Constitution and equal rights for all continue, as the Reagan/Bush I-appointed U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker has just ruled that same-sex marriages in California may resume once again as of 5pm PDT, August 18th.
Opponents of equality have until then to appeal the decision at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Walker’s ruling today follows his recent ruling which found that the state’s Prop 8 constitutional amendment banning such marriages is in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection and due process clauses.

Woot!!!
This much joy can’t be wrong.
I love the framing of the context.
If the opponents need any help with quotes on marriage purity or marriage between only men & women, Mein Kampf is a great resource.
And on top of that, Walker’s collegue, Judge Alsup, socked Wells Fargo with 203 million in damages for overdraft fee fraud! Who says there’s no news during summertime?
After Bush v Gore I felt the Constitution and the law was mocked and the people insulted, and then that decision led to unfathomable pain and suffering. I feel exactly the opposite with Perry v Schwarzenegger. This is truth and justice and joy.
Kudos to judge Walker for upholding the Constitution and showing that the majority can not vote away the rights of a minority.
When Colorado passed amendment 2 back in the late eighties it sanctioned discrimination against gay and lesbians, It, like prop 8, was overturned for the same reason.
Congratulations to the gay and lesbian community of California – I hope it spreads to the rest of the nation ASAP
