As usual, the great Tom Tomorrow is right on the money this week — but with one exception here (a generosity to the media which I’m guessing he couldn’t avoid, so as to make his broader point clear).
In the 4th panel where he quotes Media Woman as saying “On the other hand, industry-financed skeptics disagree,” the more accurate quote would have been “On the other hand, skeptics disagree.”
Corporate media seem to feel no obligation about pointing out that those “skeptics” they so dutifully quote (no matter how legitimate or illegitimate the skepticism) are actually industry shills. See this recent, and perfect, example of the NYTimes doing exactly that in regard to the BP Oil Disaster.

Well, it didn’t take a year for me to laugh out loud. That’s good. Laughter is the best medicine. Tom Tomorrow rocks.
So does Andy Borowitz. Catch this Borowitz report (via the Smirking Chimp):
Experts Propose Plugging Oil Leak with BP Executives
heres to our so smart humorists…Tom tomorrow, daily show, colbert…Tomorrow is great…one of the best ever.
by the way, Colbert has a great line on regulations also:
when Dorgan was on his show he said something about having free markets but with rules, and:
Colbert “Free with rules?!â€
Dorgan “I think the free market is wonderful but it needs a referee with a whistle and striped shirt to call the foulsâ€
Cobert: “ I will agree with you, It’s fine to have referee in a free market, but if it is a free market referee, shouldn’t the referee be for sale?†Shouldn’t I be able to pay the referee to look the other way?â€
Yep, Colbert is awesome.
I totally agree Lora and Karen!
Tom Tommorrow and Colbert are great not just for their wit, intelligence and satire, but also for their ability to make us laugh. As cliche as it sounds, it does make the absurdity of our times a little less demoralizing.
Personally, I’ve just adored Steven as Mr. Noblett on Strangers With Candy.
And, as one can always expect from Tom, that was just an absolutely hilarious cartoon!!!!!
Sounds like the Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling here in PA. People are already lighting their tapwater on fire from the chemicals going into the groundwater, just a few years into the project, and all liberals are calling for (the majority of them, anyway) is a tax on the wells.
