And the far-too-rarely bestowed BRAD BLOG “Intellectually Honest Conservative Award” goes today to David Frum, former speech writer for George W. Bush, for his article last night on “Waterloo”. Here are a few money quotes:
…
This time, when we went for all the marbles, we ended with none.
…
We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat.
…
So today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged, even more frustrated, even more disappointed in everybody except the responsibility-free talkers on television and radio. For them, it’s mission accomplished. For the cause they purport to represent, it’s Waterloo all right: ours.
UPDATE 3/26/10: Frum is fired by rightwing American Enterprise Institute, where he’s been employed since 2003, after having the temerity to pen the above. Guess the Right isn’t into that whole “liberty” and “free speech” thing as much as they pretend to be. Who knew? Details…

I knew there had to still be a few with some brains left out there.
David Frum is a good guy. My favorite line from him was “the fact that other people fail in other ways is not an excuse for you failing in your way” on the Rachel Maddow show 10/14/2008.
“Conservative entertainment industry” is a nice way to spin Beck, Rush, and the Fox Opinion channel.
Why yes, he is so right…
IF everybody who was eligible to vote was registered to vote, and…
IF everybody who thought they were registered to vote was actually ALLOWED to vote, and…
IF the way they cast their vote was actually the way their vote was counted.
But, alas, as those of us here at BradBlog know, that is NOT the case.
Elections are controlled by corporate special interests, and now, more and more, so are registration records.
Only fair and honest elections will result in true change, which is why your work is so important, Brad.
Keep it up.
You do a lot on this blog, but in the end, your original and primary work on electoral fraud and honesty in the election process is the most important.
David Frum just got fired from a conservative think tank. Could it have something to do with these comments? Seems the extremist-conservative-fringe (now kind of mainstream) like Stalin’s approach to differing viewpoints:
