From Stephen Schneider:
MCM:
Yesterday, I personally heard both NBC and ABC propagate the long-since debunked story that the outgoing Clintonistas in 2001 removed the “W”s from the White House computers. Whoever said it on ABC (I was in a pizza place at the time, and the sound was kinda low, so I didn’t get an ID) appeared to present it as an accepted fact.
NBC’s Brian Williams was a bit cagier, saying, “We all remember the story about … ” and then doing nothing to discredit its veracity.
In each case, the context was to laud President Bush’s alleged grace and gentility in ceding the office to Obama, as opposed to the rudeness he himself had purportedly weathered.
I didn’t hear any such commentary on CBS, but it’s entirely possible it got in there somewhere.
Bush: booed by 2 million, buoyed by 2 networks. And they wonder where blogging came from.

I’m not surprised. I followed a link to the ABC website today and ended up reading the comments to a pretty straightforward story about Obama. I don’t even recall the story because it was completely innocuous. There were about 8 pages of comments and halfway through the second page I quit and went back to the home page to verify what site I was at. I was astonished at the comments- it was wall to wall wingnuttery. I actually thought I had been redirected to FOX or some fringe site. It was scary.
Bob Schieffer brought this up a couple of days ago. I thought it was in bad taste, even though he framed it as some-say. I could never figure out why the Clinton people never defended themselves. Could it be, the media didn’t give them a chance?
You know, on a personal level, I don’t think I would want somebody else’s keyboard, phone, mouse, or coffee cup. YuCK!
I Probably redo the phones and network too!
And my chair. Don’t need that smell of “350LB old man ass” day after day while I write notes on my wall and desk. Your not working if you don’t scribble everywhere!
I suggest that Obama have security experts he trusts check for electronic bugs Bush or Cheney may have left in the White House — particularly in the Oval Office and in conference rooms.
Jake Tapper of ABC News continues his anti-Obama bias with his reporting; he slipped that Clinton story into his WH report.
He will continue to do it if no one notices; it’s his style.

That’s great, thanks for posting that 🙂
I heard our old favorite Karl Rove say this really happened on some show just this past week. And of course we all know how reliable he is.
After seeing the evening ‘news’ give Obama’s critics more time than Obama, I won’t be getting the converter box in February. Why pay attention to the obstructionists at the networks?
Better to keep the poison at a distance.
