It has just been revealed that an investigation is taking place in Franklin Co, Ohio, stemming from problems noticed by Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner on her DRE voting machine last Nov. 6. Brunner claims that when she got to a municipal court race a gray banner appeared over one candidate’s name to let her know that he had withdrawn from the race. In fact that candidate had withdrawn the day after the machines were programmed. The problem is that her husband voted on a machine next to hers and he had no warning. Voters in other precincts have now reported the same thing to investigators, so it appears that not everyone had the same ballot. Investigators have also found that it appears that ES&S, the county’s vendor, told election workers that it was not necessary to do pre-election testing on every voting machine so only one machine per precinct was tested. They have also found that ES&S instructed the county’s “board programmer†on how to turn off the “audit logs†on the machines while doing any work on them. This act hinders any investigation into what was done with software changes. How will these bad acts by ES&S affect what seems to be a good relationship between Brunner and the vendor?…

Oh Brad, You gotta hear CSpan this morning as Dave Tomlin was on representing the AP as general council for the “Sunshine Week in Washington” about Freedom of Information. A caller asked if he had heard of Sibel Edmunds. He hadn’t heard of her and the caller was very thorough in telling him about her being the most gagged reporter in the country. It was laughable that he had NO IDEA who she was. It was on aroung 8:54 am Eastern time. Hope you can see the replay. Tells us what pitiful shape our news organisations are in.
The false front by ES&S mirrors the false front for all things Amurkan these daze. dKos head in the same cognition carries the day.
I listenened to the Bear Stearns CEO on Wednesday say everything was peachy keen. Thursday and Friday they collapsed, and over the weekend got gobbled for 7 cents on the dollar. Their stock on Wednesday was at $53 a share, today sold for $2 just to avoid bankruptcy.
But there is a bigger story based upon the US reputation in the world:

Bear Stearns and the rejection of US debt by foreign nations indicates that the false front of a good economy is naked. The war will take us down or we will take it down.
US homeowners have lost much of their equity, and a growing number are getting into negative equity because the appraisals were fraudulent. A great fraud was perpetrated on the people and the current regime lied about that too. It is the season of the lie for the current regime.
It does not bode well for a money fix for the election system for the next election.
The Glass-Stegal Act put into place by FDR in 1933 required transparency in banking transactions/no investment in the stock market. So the US would never suffer another depression. Bill Clinton repealed it in 1999. That it is another reason WE are going down.Greed and the Clinton machine.
