The impact of California SoS Debra Bowen’s “Top-to-Bottom Review” is beginning to be felt, tangibly, in other states across the country.
One such state is Kentucky, where this morning a press release was issued by the state’s Attorney General Gregory D. Stumbo demanding that electronic voting machine manufacturers immediately correct security flaws identified in the independent reviews by experts in California.
In terse letters sent to voting machine companies Diebold and Hart Intercivic (letters posted in full below), Stumbo demanded that the companies “immediately implement in Kentucky all modifications and security upgrades necessary to correct the vulnerabilities identified by California.”
Stumbo had this to say during in his news release this morning:
Meanwhile Kentucky’s “do-nothing” Secretary of State, Trey Grayson publicly criticized Attorney General Stumbo’s statements to which Stumbo retorted:
The two one-page letters [PDF] from KY AG Stumbo to Hart InterCivic and Diebold demanding the same immediate corrective action as required by the state of California are posted in full below…

Trey Grayson? WTF, did he invent baseketball?, or is he a young Republican. You can’t make this shit up
Brad–and other Californians:
Maybe I missed this in your previous reporting, but it comes by way of another blog. Involves the restructuring of California balloting along different lines.

All it takes is for one strong, smart person to take an issue to task, and more will follow suit. Hoo-ray to Debra Bowen!
Now we need the same thing to happen with the new FISA Bill, signed into law by President Bush on Sunday, giving it the authority to eavesdrop on U.S. citizens, and making surveillance w/o warrants legal.
Here’s a letter I wrote to my senator about her yes vote on the FISA Bill:

And here’s a site that has information and encouragement to participate in FISA Friday:

Linda-
Great Letter! I’m with you 100%. This is far from the first time that Feinstein has aided and abetted Bush with her votes. I can’t imagine ever voting for her again but we are stuck with her for another 5 1/2 yrs.! I’m ready to start an impeachment (?recall?) campaign. Maybe that would get her attention.
GTASH, that little hooligan maneuver that’s going on here in California to restructure our electoral votes SIMPLY TO GIVE REPUBLICANS AN ADVANTAGE, not by allowing their votes to count, btw, but by redefining how our state system works, is just making me sick. Is our legislative branch going to roll over on this one, too?!
Brad!!! Help!!!
If these particular California lawyers/scheisters who are working on this one, and who also, btw, work for Arnold Schwarzenegger and for the Republican party, really cared about making every vote count, as they claim, they would be working to replace the entire electoral college system with a popular vote system. They’ll never do that! That would give the power of elections more to the people! In every state!
