Did you know that the Iraq Spending Bill passed by Congress last week also guaranteed that states that had not yet complied with HAVA would not lose their funding? Well it did that. A hidden provision in the bill extended the HAVA deadline for purchase of new voting systems out two years. Who benefited from this extension? A two year extension to HAVA – EVM purchases – WHOOPEE !!! For Diebold !!
The electronic voting machine purveyors ought to be hap-hap-happy about that. The voting public and those with concern about election integrity and verifiable counting of the vote results have little to celebrate.
A paper ballot – by law – sealed and saved for two years – so contested elections can be recounted – is cause for an American celebration, because then democracy has been advanced rather than open to being subverted by the unscrupulous and a criminal element.
A hard copy paper ballot – rather than a “faith based” bogus electronic record – is reason for us to then cheer and applaud. Otherwise our elections are open to contaminated results and tampering. Secret Black-box electronic voting only makes Nazi/Fascists ecstatic and jump for joy.
