Conyers responds to Fox “News” having shown him instead of now-indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) during their “breaking news” report yesterday, and FNC’s pathetic “apology” today for the “error.” (Details and video of both instances here.)
Says Conyers’ office in a statement sent to The BRAD BLOG moments ago:
Yesterday, Fox News Channel broke the story of Rep. William Jefferson’s indictment with video of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers greeting Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at a recent Judiciary Committee hearing. The network apologized on-air for airing the wrong video; however, they did not personally apologize to Mr. Conyers or describe the video they aired the previous day. Chairman Conyers responded today:”Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated. I am personally offended by the network’s complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology.” – House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI)
Speaking of media wanting to slam Dems more for “scandals”. I also noted towards the end of the post-debate analysis show that CNN did, Jeffrey Toobin noted that Bharak Obama had to face a Dem in the primary “mired in a sex scandal” but neglected to mention that the reason he faced a joke of a Republican in the general election was that the sitting Republican Jack Ryan ALSO had an even more prominent sex scandal of his own which had him back out and have Keyes take over his spot against Obama.
The media continues to try and push down Dems as “scandal ridden” to try and be “fair and balanced” when the number of scandals afflicting both parties is anything BUT balanced in reality!
fox is a cancer that is killing our freedom & democracy.

Conyers should sue Fox for libel, slander or defamation of character.
There is a clear pattern of this sort of “mistake”, always tarring Democrats. So it’s arguably malicious, not just negligence.
If Fox had to pay up big bucks, I’ll bet it would become a whole lot more careful about checking facts before running defamatory material.
Well i guest the CBC is really happy with FAUX NEWS,talk about selling your soul.
Fox also said Tom Foley is a Democrat.
Everything faux snooze does is subpar. Apologies are very difficult for those with infallibility.
FOCK SNOOZE, as it is more aptly dubbed, needs to be sued for clear and intentional “defamation of character” by John Conyers. They are THE quintessential propaganda tool of dissemination of evil within this country and need to be reprimanded for their complicity in aiding and abetting the level of corruption present. Besides, even if they claim that this act was “unintentional”, Conyers still has grounds for unintentional defamation by association.
Their claim of “error” simply does not exonerate them from the besmerching of one’s character, as is this case.
Conyers needs to “lawyer up” immediately and sock it to this disgusting channel to the tune of megabucks.

I thought it was strange to see the ominous headlines on CNN for this scandal. I was like “uh”? this is the network which during the Alterto Gonzales scandal was presenting him as an innocent, hunted man. I sure hope there will be a courageous democrat willing to stand up for Jefferson; acknowledge his work and ask for justice to run its course.
