It’s good to be back from my well deserved trip to Alaska. A great time was had by all; except the fish.
Journalist, radio personality and friend Pokey Anderson opened her excellent article, “Peering Through The Chinks in the Armor of High-Tech Elections†thusly:
Virtually everything else about elections should be public and transparent. But somehow, secrecy has come to cloak many aspects of elections.
First off, the software counting votes is secret.
A raft of other aspects of elections are secret or obscure, including who owns and runs voting machine companies, who their programmers are (google Jeffrey Dean & Diebold for one hair-raising example), reports by certification entities and many experts, and even raw exit poll data by the nation’s biggest exit polling group. All secret.
That voting news story, and many other important ones, all linked below…
NOTE FROM BRAD: Welcome back, Big John! And perhaps your regular readers would enjoy a photo of the man behind the DVN. Here he is enjoying much happier times off the grid last week. Here’s to hoping he got plenty of rest to go with all that fish…I think he’s gonna be needing it…

…And now back to your regularly scheduled Daily Voting News…

Welcome back, John! That’s one biiiig fish. Good thing you took a photo….
Yeah, welcome back John
Don’t trim the face rug until Bush is out of office.
Mine is getting so long now, with my long top hairs, the kids on my sons bus are calling me Sasquatch.
I told him to tell them “thats Mr. Sasquatch to you”
Now back to the old grindstone…
Actually, you have no idea how big that fish really is. In truth, John is about 9 feet tall. So that fish looks a lot smaller than it actually is (John says it’s about a 30 lb. King Salmon)
You got my vote John.
You went fishing in Alaska??? I’m soooo jealous!
Welcome back John!
Completely OT here, but thought y’all might enjoy a good laugh. Some of the participants were from my old “radical and rebel homeschoolers” group. (What, did you think we were ALL Bible thumpers? *grins*)
What a great way of dealing with idiots!

Welcome back from your well earned break. Off to Alaska, also, end of July before we lose some glaciers and the Tongass. Guess the Belugas aren’t doing well, either.
Wish our voting situation had changed more since you’ve been away!
I prefer “dolphin” myself! I buy “Dolphin of the Land” canned dolphin…mmmmmmmm, delish! Great on organic crackers!
“Unabomber” brand “Dolphin of the Land” canned dolphin. The dolphin preferred by 4-out-of-5 Unabombers!!!
Fish and chips party at John’s house,
Starts Sunday June 3, at 6:00 PM,
you bring the beer and tartar sauce.
YUM !
Thanks everyone. I ended up bringing home about 60 lbs. of King Salmon, 45 lbs. of Halibut, and 20 lbs. of other denizens of the deep, i.e. Ling Cod, Red Snapper, etc.
That’s all cut, processed, vacuum packed, and flash frozen so it’s all ready for cooking or sushi.
It was good to get away but it’s also good to be back at it.
Damn! You’re making me want to go fishing!
