The Duval Co. Florida finance committee approved funding for printers for the counties DREs (Diebold TSx). The first question that came to mind when I read this is, “How can Duval buy printers for their machines when the state has said they are not allowed and they are not state certified? Then I got deeper into the article. “Verifiable Paper Audit Trail”? Where is the ‘voter’? Then it is all explained: “The voter will not see it and they cannot take it,” said Phillips. “The paper trail will be rolled up in the machine.” The voter will not see the printed ballot. In other words the county has approved funding to install a printer on the machines and that printer is already on those machines. Perhaps that’s why in the cost breakdown no where do they mention the cost of the printers only repairs, maintenance, etc. In other words, this is all more misleading information and obfuscation on the part of an election official who only wants to promote confidence at the expense of the facts. / Three Cuyahoga Co. Ohio election workers went on trial today for 6 counts each of misconduct for rigging the 2004 state mandated recount in their county. The workers pre-counted and sorted ballots in order to find precincts where the recount would find no problems….

    1. This trial in Cuyahoga is really big news. I can’t believe the Blog relegated this announcement to a “news summary”

Accusations of a rigged election recount, if proven in court, will expose the actual rigging of the main election in 2004.

I hope that our activist brethren in Ohio stay on top of this trial and help prevent or expose any judicial tomfoolery. Blackwell and his links to GoP operatives MUST be exposed.

    2. Hey Big Dan –

We told this story back in April of 2006 right here.

If anything new or newsworthy of note comes about, you can bet we’ll be covering it 🙂

That said, nothing “relegated” at all about anything in the good JG’s DVN! Until we get a staff around here, I can’t cover everything myself ya know! 😉

    3. On the first link, I suppose the next merge will be with the RNC…oh wait, thats already a done deal

    4. Brad,

Sorry if my comment sounded critical, wasn’t meant to be. I know yer busy as all git. I know you’ve covered it, extensively, in the past. But, once again, though, CMSM is dropping the ball on this one. I wanted to make, sort of, a nudge…to the top of the consciousness, for the readers from Ohio, and elsewhere, to do all they can to keep this trial under public scrutiny.

Because, I believe, this is the one that can expose the smoking gun and bring indictments to the corrupt leadership of the RNC.

    5. The punitive aspects of the case is one thing, however, it doesn’t fix the problem of the wrong politician being in office due to criminal acts.

The law is defective because it does not provide for removal of office, only punishment of the wannabes like Katherine Harris.

The fools stay fools, the office remains stolen, and the people still do not have democracy.

We need to add more safeguards … and quick response to election theft.

    6. Big news? Where? Not in the Plain Dealer or on local tv that I saw, including the muckraking Channel 19.
