and 9/11: Press for Truth: A Review — “Scoop”
I saw 9/11: Press for Truth last night at the Landmark E Street Cinema. When I got directions, I laughed a jaded laugh because that’s just around the corner from the J Edgar Hoover Building, FBI Headquarters. How did I know that? Because in the 1980’s, the 9:30 Club was also just around the corner from FBI Central. Ignoring the 9:30 Club was to the FBI’s credit. Their performance on the 9/11 tragedy, however, has been like the other institutions that ignore or obfuscate: disappointing.
I reviewed this outstanding work of documentary film art for “Scoop” shortly after I saw it — 9/11 Press for Truth: A Review- “Scoop”. Winter Patriot has very recently blogged about some of the background behind it.
There was one sequence in the film that I wanted to explore more deeply, because it brings together 9/11, Elections, and the Corporate media.
First, it does really matter who is elected. Attention to elections in detail, particularly post-election controversies, is a must. What would it be like if we had President Gore? To start, we would have a coordinated response on the environmental tragedy facing us. And we would not have had an administration that can’t see beyond the interests of its patrons in the Middle East. Why no President Gore, you ask? Because he won and the people didn’t get that message; because he should have won the election contest but the lawyers didn’t get the message; because it was the will of the people but the Supreme Court didn’t get the message.
The Corprorate Media (also known as Mainstream Media, or MSM) couldn’t connect any of the dots in the Bush political legacy. During the past six years, they have not connected any dots at all. It is gut-wrenching to see this again and again. Major stories like this one in Newsweek never get full play. They start and stop in an instant. Sometimes they never start because they’re spiked (pulled for some reason).
Why Does Corporate Media Blow It Again and Again?
The film, 9/11: Press for Truth answers the question. Co-producer Kyle Hence was kind enough to send me a transcript to share this amazing sequence.
This comes at the end of the documentary. The point is made again and again — 80% of the information is out there in the public domain. Why doesn’t Corporate Media connect the dots and come up with the big story? (Thinking about election fraud, are you?)
Here is the verbatim sequence that answers our question. “Patty†is Patricia Casazza, one of the Jersey Girls who are fighting so hard to get their 9/11 questions answered. “Len†is Leonard Downie, Executive Editor of the Washington Post, appointed in 1992.
The press should have been doing a better job of putting those conflicts, if you will, (Laughs.) you know side by side… in a cumulative report.
LEN: (1-16) But that’s not the job of reporting. That’s the job of editorial pages and politicians and others to make those kinds of judgments — and the public itself, and the 9/11 relatives themselves — to make those kinds of assertions. All we can do in our reporting is report facts. And we have reported those facts, and we have held those facts up against public statements at the time… which is why they know that’s what took place, from our reporting.

Finally, our long search is over! Our question, “What the heck is CM doing?”, has been answered. They just report facts!!! They just report facts!!! Odd that Downie says the “editorial” pages need to connect the dots. Especially since, as Winter Patriot has been pointing out, Op/Ed pages have become a “fact-free zone”, where columnists can write whatever they want, factual or not.
Did Woodward and Bernstein leave it to the editorial pages to connect the dots? Did any of the other great investigative reporters appearing in newspapers for decades do that? Isn’t Leonard Downie the “Executive Editor” and thus responsible for connecting the dots?
Downie’s remark reveals the current standards for journalism. It shows that there is little interest in investigating 9/11, election fraud, environmental catastrophes, etc. etc.; only the most absurd excuses for not doing so.
They’re simply not going to do it. It has more to do with their role in their larger corporate structure than anything else, I suspect. CBS dumps Rather. Time Magazine hires a former head of an ultra-conservative right wing foundation. ABC deliberately broadcasts lies. They don’t care because they don’t have to. They act as though control by Republicans will last forever.
This is a “smoking gun” of sorts for the media. I think Downie was pressed and he blew it. But I think that CM is fine using this as a talking point.

I’ll tell ya Mike, He’s no Keith Olbermann! They just don’t care if our country is crumbling, Why is that? Do they have other plans that we don’t? Where will these people go when the air is not fit to breathe, or the water not fit to drink or our food poisoned by corporate America. I am so sick of hearing about free trade and capitalism. We are living in a dictatorship and these people have been paid off. I got news for them, There’s only one planet earth and we better find a way to fix this mess we’re in or we can all stick our heads between our legs and kiss our asses GOODBYE. Because no one is immune! Ah for that quaint old trait, “Integrity” is not something I would associte with “Len”.

Laura, you are so right. Where will they go is the real question? Do they have geodesic domed cities planned that will be like the old Studio 54, only the chosen few get in? Or will it be like the great Chappelle show when Dave announces, as President of the US, that he and the elite are leaving by a special rocket they’ve never revealed since the Earth is finished. Its hilarious when you see it, but examining it rationally, you still come up with the question that you raised so clearly.
I do love Downie, though, for dropping down so low just to keep talking, to avoid admitting any error. Since it’s our job to connect the dots, there should be a “connect the dots” section where members of the public can do just this. Amazing times…

Winter Patriot, I think that there’s a job for you at News Speak Productions. You’ve moved beyond Imagineer and now display the talents of a “MFE,” Master of Facts Extraordinaire! Maybe the Post should put this on the masthead: “Just the facts, ma’am.” This is such an absurdity.
I will say one thing for Len Downie. He looked terrific; 10 years younger than he did the last time I saw him on screen, which has been a while.
On a serious note, your previous piece on 911 was outstanding and is a good reference point for these discussions.
I think the most important thing Michael brings out in this article is that when we know what to expect, let’s set our expectations accordingly. I’ve tried to factor this into the work I’ve done, and to promote that notion to others.
The truth of 911 is slowly but surely getting out and for those with enough courage to examine the facts and data with an open mind in a pragmatic fashion, the truth of what happened that day begins to come into focus. I am amazed that the sheeple supporters of Bush and the neocons can actually continue to buy their program when it has become blatantly obvious that Bush has lied and conflated with respect to every issue since coming into office. The WMDs, the aluminum tubes, Abu Graib and the torture memos, the Downing Street Memo…. it goes on and on. Just look at what his policies have brought to the nation and the world. It is impossible to honestly purport that the world is any better off since he came into power, much less we as a nation are any safer! Anyone who supports Bush is either hopelessly brainwashed, or ignorant of the truth. I can understand how some people still subscribe to the Neocon agenda because they have been deluded by the MSM and cannot believe that the likes of FOX, ABC could possibly be contaminated with conflict of intrest and complicty. Then there are those who should know better, but subscribe based on their own volition. They are the true terrorists who activly participate in the duplicitious plot to destroy our Democracy, Constitution and the freedoms fought for by those patriots who came before us since the inception of this Nation. The war on Terror is a hoax. If there was anything substantive about it we would be protecting our ports and we would have finished what we started in Afganistan. Please reveal the links between Dresser, Haliburton, Cheney and Asbestos,
specificically the asbestos that was in the WTC. Haliburton, under Cheney’s

On December 18, 2002, CBS News reported that Halliburton “has agreed
to pay about $4 billion in cash and stock to settle hundreds of thousands of
asbestos claims against it.” Reportedly, Halliburton inherited its asbestos
liability from Harbison-Walker, a unit of Halliburton’s subsidiary Dresser
Industries, and from Halliburton’s Kellog Brown & Root subsidiary.
On December 13, 2001, the World Socialist Web Site reported that “During
the 2000 election campaign critics noted that in the last several years
Cheney and Halliburton had contributed $157,500 to congressional
candidates who had co-sponsored legislation to cut off victims’ rights
to a fair recovery when injured or killed as a result of asbestos exposure.”
And on August 11, 2002, The Olympian (from Olympia, WA), carried a
Washington Post article noting that:
“Dresser had close ties to a family Cheney knew well: the Bushes.
Cheney’s boss while he served as Secretary of Defense, President
George H.W. Bush, was once being groomed to run Dresser, a company
that Bush’s father and grandfather had reshaped decades earlier.
When Dresser went public in the 1920s, it turned to W.A. Harriman & Co.,
whose president was George Herbert Walker, grandfather and namesake
to former president Bush. Prescott Bush, the former president’s father,
helped organize Dresser and select its new president, H. Neil Mallon.
Prescott Bush eventually sat on the board and by 1941, still held 1,900
shares of Dresser stock. Mallon was so close to former president Bush
that he described him in his autobiography as “surrogate uncle and father-
confessor.” One of his sons, Neil Mallon Bush, is named after him. After
World War II, Mallon employed George H.W. Bush and Dresser executives
expected him to take over the company, according to journalist Darwin
Payne, who wrote a history of Dresser. Instead, the former president left to prospect for oil.
While Cheney saw sound business reasons for acquiring Dresser, there
was a problem in its past — the use of asbestos in Harbison-Walker division products.”
GW included the issue in his State of the Union speech in 2005.
“To make our economy stronger and more competitive, America must
reward, not punish, the efforts and dreams of entrepreneurs. Small
business is the path of advancement, especially for women and minorities,
so we must free small businesses from needless regulation and protect
honest job-creators from junk lawsuits. (Applause.) Justice is distorted,
and our economy is held back by irresponsible class-actions and frivolous
asbestos claims — and I urge Congress to pass legal reforms this year.”

That story about Halliburton acquiring the asbestos liabilities of Dresser
Industries raises an interesting point…
Cheney KNEW that Dresser had the most massive liability issue on planet
earth (he had to have known) yet decided to pay good money to bring
Dresser’s problems under Halliburton’s tent. WHY?
This raises the question…who were the largest shareholders of Dresser –
in need of a lifeboat to save their own personal bacon? Anyone named Bush?
Anyone named Carlyle?
GHW Bush came up with the plan. The deal went like this:
Cheney agrees for Halliburton to take on the Dresser asbestos liability.
It is determined that Bush and Cheney will be (s)elected, and that the
PNAC plan will be implemented – using 9/11 as the essential pretext.
Ken Lay plays his role using his Enron smoke and mirrors tactics to
create a faux energy crisis in California, causing the public to demand
an energy-savvy administration be elected.
With the asbestos liability and other matters hanging in the balance,
the election of 2000 simply had to be rigged in order for the plan to go in to effect.
Following the appointment of Bush and Cheney, the secret energy
planning meeting established which oil companies would reap the
rewards of the pending invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran.
The timing and the pretext were predetermined, and 9/11 was
greenlighted for 9/11/2001. Cheney outsourced the implementation
to Mossad, and ran the show from his bunker on D Day under the cover
of preplanned drills simulating the exact attack that was proscribed,
with NORAD as coconspirator. At least 50 administration officials
and countless foreign agents were in on it.
What are the odds that a man in a cave selected 9/11/2001 (the only
day when America’s air defenses had ever been so compromised), as
the day for his attack against America? What are the odds? Only
someone with the “branding” sensibilities of Karl Rove would select the
date that means the equivalent of “life threatening emergency” in the
popular perception.
Recall the on 9/10/2001, Rumsfeld announced that his comptroller,
Dov Zakheim, had misplaced $2.3 Trillion (enough to fund a military coup). Zakheim (not coincidentally) also just happened to be the CEO of SPC Corporation, the leading manufacturer of wireless flight control systems designed to control and terminate flights:

Zakheim just happened to be one of the signatories of the PNAC manifesto that called for a “NEW PEARLE HARBOR†as its essential pretext AND just happened to be the CEO of the one company capable of flying Boeing aircraft by remote control AND just happened to become the Comptroller at Rumsfeld’s Pentagon AND just happened to misplace $2.3 trillion in the months prior to 9/11.
Once the entire 9/11 charade was concluded, the Administration generally, and Cheney specifically, had every reason in the world to blame Iraq.

revenue to offset the massive asbestos liability claim. Iraq and Iran
are essential wars in order to provide cover for the infusion of the

Now you know why Halliburton was awarded the contracts without
the need to bid for them. This was all prearranged.
NOTE: Private enterprise pushed its legal/financial obligations onto
tax payers using war as the excuse.
The asbestos liability claims of Dresser Industries were ultimately
paid by you and me, and our troops in the field, all to ensure that
the investors in Dresser didn’t take the multibillion dollar loss.

Given what we know about VP Cheney’s direct financial ties to Haliburton, isn’t it clear that he has committed a fraud against the United States for the purpose of illegal financial gain, in accordance with the following statute? Couldn’t the same be said of any US official who knowingly made false statements to advance the cause of war, while owning shares of companies that stood to gain substantially from that war? Cheney was acting specifically on behalf of the Contractor, Haliburton, to ensure no-bid contracts were awarded, based on knowingly fraudulent information generated by his own Office Of Special Plans. It might also be construed that any official who had a relationship to the Carlyle Group was also lying on their behalf – for their own financial benefit.

The financial links between those who lied, and those who benefitted as a direct result of the lies (primarily in the oil and military industries) are clear. The evidence that the President’s speech knowingly included a lie about the Niger Yellow Cake is proveable in a court of law under oath.
That the Vice President knew for a fact that the claim was based on a forgery in advance of the President’s speech is a given. That he instructed others to ensure that the sentence made it into the speech is also a given. What did the Vice President know, and when did he know it?
Everytime the Vice President knowingly lied to the American People to advance the cause of war, he committed a crime against the United States which both directly harmed other US citizens and directly enriched himself.

Consummate diplomats like Wilson typically do not speak of “lies.” So outraged was Wilson, though, that this bogus story had been used to “justify” an unprovoked war, that he made a point to note that the already proven dishonesty begs the question regarding “what else they are lying about.”
It was a double whammy. And, as is now well known, the White House moved swiftly-if clumsily (and apparently illegally)-to retaliate.

But there is abundant evidence that senior White House officials were aware of the CIA’s doubts regarding the Niger story long before the State of the Union. Nearly a year earlier, in February 2002, the CIA had dispatched former Ambassador Joseph Wilson to Niger to investigate the claim about uranium purchases. When the CIA debriefed him in March, his findings were emphatic: As Wilson explained in a New York Times op-ed on July 6, “It did not take long to conclude that it was highly doubtful that any such transaction had ever taken place.” CIA Director George Tenet claimed on July 11 that Wilson was sent to Niger by junior nonproliferation experts at the CIA acting “on their own initiative” and that senior administration officials were unaware of his mission. But this is not true. Wilson was told by CIA officials that the mission had been specifically requested by the office of the vice president. Indeed, Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, told Time magazine that Cheney had “asked a question about the implication of the [uranium] report.” And, as Wilson tells The New Republic, “When an executive agency is tasked to find something out and it gets an answer, it goes back to the person who requested it.” For the White House to suggest that Cheney’s office was unaware of the results of Wilson’s inquiry strains credulity.
Moreover, there is strong evidence that the CIA clearly conveyed its doubts about the Niger allegation to the White House on more than one occasion prior to the State of the Union. When Bush wanted to include the claim in an October 7, 2002, speech in Cincinnati, Tenet personally intervened, imploring Condoleezza Rice’s National Security Council (NSC) deputy, Stephen Hadley, to cut the allegation from the speech, which he did. The idea that no one involved with the State of the Union was aware of this earlier, emphatic intervention is implausible. And when the latter speech was being written, the CIA again raised questions about the Niger assertion. According to The New York Times, when NSC proliferation staffer Robert G. Joseph called his CIA counterpart, Alan Foley, to ask about including the allegation in the State of the Union, Foley told Joseph the CIA was not confident about the information.

CONTROLLED PRESS HIDES CHERTOFF’S ISRAELI ROOTS

Although the media scrutinized Bernard Kerik, President George W. Bush’s first choice to head DHS, and uncovered embarrassing details about his mother, there was no discussion of Chertoff’s mother, who played a noteworthy role in the creation of the Zionist state in Palestine.
The omission of Chertoff’s mother’s Zionist past suggests that there is an effort by the media to conceal his ties to Israel and his status as a “de jure” Israeli national, by birth.
Under Israeli law, a child born to an Israeli citizen, including children born outside of Israel as first generation out of Israel, is considered an Israeli citizen. The child remains an Israeli national until he or she formally renounces their Israeli nationality.

“The FBI-Justice move [to take over the investigation], pushed by DOJ Criminal Division chief Michael Chertoff and Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson, has enraged Homeland Security officials, however. They accuse the bureau [Chertoff] of sabotaging Greenquest investigations—by failing to turn over critical information to their agents—and trying to obscure a decadelong record of lethargy [actually criminal obstruction] in which FBI offices failed to aggressively pursue terror-finance cases.
“They (the FBI) won’t share anything with us,†said a Homeland Security official. “Then they go to the White House and they accuse us of not sharing … If they can’t take it over, they want to kill it.â€
Chertoff’s “investigation” (sic) covered up the terrorist financing so well that the Kean 9-11 Commission could write in its report:
“Similarly we have seen no evidence that any foreign government–or foreign government official–supplied any funding.”
Well that’s odd, seeing how the head of Pakistani Intelligence was forced to step down when FBI agents confirmed to Indian intelligence that the Pakistani ISI chief had ordered a $100,000 wire transfer to alleged lead hijacker Mohammad Atta. This was ftont page news in India, and was reported in several venues here. Not a word about ISI chief Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad appears in any of the 9-11 reports. This news story makes the 9-11 Commission Report a bald faced lie.
Chertoff also had a hand in drafting the PATRIOT ACT.
Washington Post: “In meetings with the White House, Chertoff pushed for expanded powers to conduct secret searches, steps that civil libertarians have challenged with some success in federal court. (“Democracy,” a federal judge wrote recently in striking down such a provision, “abhors undue secrecy.”) Chertoff labored to dismantle barriers that kept intelligence agencies from sharing information with local law enforcement agencies.”
So Who Is This Chertoff Guy?
If you’re a 9-11 researcher, then you already know that: “Chertoff’s Cousin Penned Popular Mechanics 9/11 Hit Piece.” The cousin goes by the name of Benjamin Chertoff, whom the Hearst (yellow journalism inc.) publication Popular Mechanics made the “senior researcher” for the piece. This Popular Mechanics article was so ridiculously bad, that it claimed:
Popular Mechanics: “In the decade before 9/11 NORAD intercepted only one civilian plane over North America: golfer Payne Stewart’s Learjet, in October 1999.”
If you’re not laughing out loud, it’s probably because you’re crying out loud.
ISRAELI?
The American Free Press alleges that Michael Chertoff may hold dual-citizenship as an Israeli citizen. This charge stems from Chertoff’s mother Livia helping to create the state of Israel, and helping in a Mossad operation called “Magic Carpet,” where thousands of Yemeni Jews were flown to Israel in El Al planes in 1949-50. Israeli law holds that children of Israeli citizens are automatically citizens of Israel.
Chertoff has denied the allegation, and he has evaded specifics about his childhood: “I’ll take the fifth.” Chertoff’s father was a rabbi, and his siblings are reported to be ardent Zionists. Chertoff’s wife Meryl is a prominent member of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
This brings up a plethora of questions about Israeli spying in America, and Israeli links to the 9-11 operation itself.
For example: why were 140 Israeli agents who were detained after 9-11, many of whom had demolitions training, released without charge, and the matter made “classified?” Why were the five Mossad agents who were caught celebrating the WTC demolition, photographing themselves holding up cigarette lighters, released as well? And why has none of this made it into the “Independent” 9-11 Commission’s “Investigation”, or into the Congressional Joint Inquiry?
Did Michael Chertoff’s role as the head of the Department of Justice Criminal Division have something to do with this Israeli participation cover-up?

That’s some exceptional guy, as the article shows. It reveals something quite out of the ordinary about Michael Chertoff.
Not a word from anyone in power about Chertoff’s successful defense of a known bin Laden financier. Even though the Bergen Record newspaper had published the facts of the case in a series of articles. This news was never picked up nationally — somehow not being newsworthy enough to rate a few lines in the major press — and they call this “freedom” and “democracy,” ad nauseum.
Michael Chertoff was confirmed by the senate in a vote of 98-0.

The “undercover tactical unit” involved in the assault and TASERing of a 9/11 investigative journalist at his Chicago-area home was most likely an operation ordered by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a former high-ranking police official.
Since the bizarre and brutal attack against me by three heavily-armed agents at my family home in Hoffman Estates , Illinois , a number of people have commented on the seemingly odd use of an “undercover tactical unit” to respond to a non-emergency 911 call.
Some of the most insightful comments have come from a former senior police official from Illinois , who spoke to a source close to AFP. The former police chief was familiar with the details of the incident when he made his comments.
In the opinion of the former police chief, the operation appears to have been ordered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under the leadership of the Israeli-American dual national Michael Chertoff. Chertoff, who has been the subject of several of my articles about 9/11 and the failure of his department to respond to Hurricane Katrina, is the son of Livia Eisen, one of the first agents of Israel’s military intelligence agency, the Mossad.

The “just the facts” attitude of a journalist is part of the job. Part of the job. That jounalists have been scared away from putting any context apart from the most respectful and polite is what changed since Woodward and Bernstein. I am speaking here mostly of political context, not criminal because unless the topic in question is absolutely sensational news (appalling as Columbine or Jon Benet), the press is afraid of the influencing a readership in some obvious way about potential criminality.
You might think that as being sound practice. If you are reporting on a crime that has been charged and in process, it certainly is. And no one should go around “suggesting” crimes took place in a light manner.
On the other hand, wasn’t it Lincoln who said (paraphrase) that when you simply expose and arrange the facts in order, the story they tell pretty much explains itself?
Exposure doesn’t happen often or fully, and arranging in order seems to be done only by bloggers. If Mr. Downie thinks it is not his job to present context on any but an instantaneous, Kodak-moment way, then he is simply avoiding liability. By neglecting to tell the story, he saves on lawyers’ fees and chuckles from his competitors.
The MSM is cowed and has been since the aftermath of the Nixon impeachment. As the country was divided then about the role of the press, so it is now–but the poles of polarization reversed. Sydney Schaumberg, Woodward and Bernstein, even Walter Cronkite were attacked as much as praised. Back then, Izzy Stone as well as Jack Anderson wrote combining facts and orderly exposition to capture an entire landscape of players and events. Their critics did not like having a press armed with both a microscope and a telescope, and have decided the best way to manage a free press is to reduce the frame to microscopic size, and reduce the access to less than a snapshot.
Downie is a product of these forces as are most of the MSM because they were taught in school and by experience since the late 60’s that it was unkind to speak without knowing the whole truth, and since it was not possible to obtain the inexhaustible account of truth (and very troublesome besides), they just wouldn’t bother. So we have scribes pitted against diarists today. The only people who can afford to provide a narrative are the ones who are there everyday and whose purpose it is to make something of the montage. That would be Olberman and Hannity,the Limbaugh and the Rhodes, and their ilk, who are paid not as journalists, but as entertainers on entertainment networks–free from the duties and responsibilities of doing what journalists once did.

I think Plunger is over the top sometimes, but he sees the connection between Corporatism and Free Speec. So does Thom Hartman. As he points out in one of his books, the American rebellion against the British as stimulated because of the oppression exerted by the King in support of one of his investments, the East India Company, one of the first chartered corporations. Imagine if Halliburton was put in charge of managing all of the Federal Government and co-ordinating all the States, and Cheney and Bush were the guys who controlled the Pentagon. Do honestly think Americans would sit still for a moment if they thought about that relationship consciously for more than a minute? Corporations may be “of” the people, but they are not “for” the people. They are legally fictitious human beings that cannot die in any legal sense except by “suicide”, or having their life support taken from them (revoking charter). That’s really sweet. Eternal life. Not mortal like the rest of us. Imagine how that would change your entire outlook on life, on people around you, on—-governments? If you aren’t suicidal, and you want to live forever to do what you want, what better way to insure the prospect than to co-opt government? They will never take your charter so long as no anger or suspicion is aroused.
Guess who has the power to arouse suspicion? Guess who’s reporting of the facts would be dangerous?

There was movie I saw once and absolutely hated. It was (IMHO) a lousy movie on a big budget for its day. It was called “Rollerball”. On the 9/11 anthrax attacks, the mainstream media went from 24×7 anthrax hysteria to complete amnesia that the attacks ever occurred. The amnesia began as soon as all the evidence for the source of the attacks began to point in the wrong direction. It is, of course, absolutely verboten to mention the name of Philip Zack ever in discussing this glaringly obvious false flag op.

I think they threaten and blackmail good journalists and good news outlets as well as bribing them. As an ex. N.C. is a blackout for news, even in the rural library I used to go to in the Appalachian Mountains outside Ashville. I was so poor I could not buy a newspaper..sold my farm and moved to Maine. Even the Bangor News, which is repub. owned was better by about 5000% than the NYTimes. On Earth Day, several years ago, Bush came for a little rally. I have already watched this excellent film twice, in the last 24 hours. I truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of this documentary and the manner in which they deal with the evidence. Using this film as the introduction to 9/11 Truth will less controversial than using Loose Change, 2nd Edition –my former “first film”. While I will continue to encourage people to watch films from the LC series, LC2E does have some “baggage.”
The fact that there is no overt effort to draw conclusions about why of 9/11 is more in line with where I believe most people should begin this process. 911PFT tip-toes into the territory of who was responsible, for the attacks, but doesn’t quite go far enough. The one time I cringed, was when the narrarator invoked F911 by Michael Moore, mainly because I, like many others see him as yet another “Left Gatekeeper.” (e.g. Noam Chomsky, Amy Goodman, Markos Moulitsas, et al.).
Almost all of us say to those new to this line of research — “Don’t trust me; do your own research.” This film will provide strong encouragement to those newbies, without automatically steering those folks towards my particular MIHOP conclusions. HOw can he honestly make the claim that they are reporting the facts and then also say that their job is not to analyze or draw distinctions? If he is not willing to analyze or draw distinctions or “connect the dots” then what possible reason does he have for thinking that what is going out to the public is anything close to a fact?
How much time has the CM spent repeating Bush Admin speaking point and lies and spin? How much time did the media spend Swift Boating Kerry? None of this is fact. ANd just because the media reports that these things are happening, that doesn’t make it anymore fact. That is called speculation and rumour and heresay. And when the media treats the fact like they are equal to the rumour and heresay…they inform the public but instead cast doubt on the facts by making them appear lower and equal to the speculation. If not that they they give wieght to the speculation as if it is just as important as fact.
Either way this idea that all they do is report fact is probably the biggest lie of them all. There can be no facts if the media refuses to investigate or question the things they are told by people in power.

Why do you think Downie made such a silly statement? What if they’d handed him a stack of Editorials he’d approved or written? Would he have found one that brought together a series of facts and made a pattern? Of course not, that’s not what editorials do. In other words, he was on the spot and just blurted this out.
It’s a sign of weakness.
The press can do what it wants and so can we. I’m looking forward to the day when they have to compete with the truth, with investigation, and with intelligence for the publics’ attention.

Mike Malloy has always liked Keith Olbermann. A long time ago, I think it was even before Air America when Mike was on another internet radio broadcast he said that Olbermann actually quit his job in broadcasting, (not sure where), because he was disgusted with the coverage of Bill Clinton.
He really is a hero of media! Mike should know what he’s talking about because he used to work at CNN and is also a hero for his similar efforts!

Larry Bergan here’s the interesting and uplifting tihng about Olberman. This is not one great speech it’s the first of many commentaries that he will offer. I think he’s just getting started!!!
