Cindy Sheehan has once again established herself as an anti-war presence in Crawford, Texas. She has a new campsite near the palatial estate that “president” Bush calls his “ranch”, and she is inviting people to join her.
Our friend Leon Smith of the The Lone Star Iconoclast has more. Here’s a sample:
Camp Casey III: It’s All About Peace
When asked whether local residents were resentful about the way the property was purchased, through a third party, Sheehan said, “A lot of people have a third party buy land for them. I could have hired a lawyer, but it would have cost me more. I think they should be more resentful to a president that lied to the American public and lied to the world.
“I think Camp Casey III will be safer than where we were before, and we won’t be in the way as much as we were before. We are good neighbors. We were good neighbors out there. If they can’t put up with our presence for a few weeks, when our soldiers and the people of Iraq are suffering constantly because of what our other neighbor George Bush did, then I think they need to learn to relax a little bit and learn to live with us because, I promise you, I love Crawford and we will be good neighbors.”

Donating the park to the town, in memory of her son, is such a wonderful thing to do.
Ram , I felt the same way when I read that. This is one classy Lady. I respect and admire her so much. I was lucky enough to meet Cindy last fall after she left Camp Casey to go on her bus tour. She is a tall lady, enough to be intimidating but the Peace and Love that she radiates is astounding. She is also very soft spoken and gentle and gives great hugs. I wish only good things for this woman. She has gone thru something so horrible with such grace and dignity. How can you not respect that. Our peace movement in this country needs her and many more people to stand up and say NO MORE WAR!

The way you describe Cindy in person is the same way I perceive her when seeing her on tv or video clips. I can’t think of anyone I’ve ever known that has had so much compassion grow from so much tragedy.
Cindy speaks for a lot of military families who can’t speak up for fear of reprisal. She is using her loss to help others, and I hope GW will finally take notice this visit instead of avoid her and those from the Crawford Peace House.
Thank you, Cindy Sheehan, for speaking for oh-so-many of us who feel voiceless in this country we used to feel at home in. Keep it up! And what a wonderful idea, a PEACE PARK in a town that has become the nexus of global WAR!!

Cindy is smearing her sons memory and putting other soldiers lives at risk buy supporting the insurgency.

Comparing Cindy Sheehan to Martin Luther King, Jr. shows such an utter lack of historical perspective, I am almost speechless. Not only is she no MLK, she isn’t even comparable to Rosa Parks. The activities of Rosa Parks and MLK brought about real change; Cindy Sheehan is totally ineffectual and an embarrassment to the anti-war movement.
GO CINDY! Back with a bang. I think the park is a wonderful, lasting, and caring thing for her to do.I hope she does mess up and cut short his vacation.
Building a peace movement from a ditch in Texas was quite a feet by itself. Taking it around the world telling everyone know that not all Americans have sacraficed their humanity for some twisted sence of scurity.
Now that Mr. Dingaling has come right out and called us “nazis”, is there any chance that we can get him banned once and for all?
