The Orlando Sentinel has posted a good article by Robert Perez called Opponent, where art thou? asks Democrat in which Perez does a very good job covering the lead-up to the Democratic Primary in the 24th District, between Clint Curtis and Andy Michaud. The winner will earn the right to run for Congress — against Tom Feeney!
Many election integrity advocates have been hoping for a Feeny-Curtis race, which would certainly focus more light on some very key issues. But Curtis has to get by Andy Michaud first. And as Perez describes it, Michaud’s strategy at the moment is very difficult to grasp.
Michaud, meanwhile, has been missing in action.
Curtis, a Titusville computer programmer, says his opponent in the Sept. 5 Democratic primary is ducking him.
“He doesn’t show up at events where I’m at,” Curtis said. “It’s the oddest campaigning I ever saw.”
The article covers Curtis’ campaigning — and Michaud’s lack of same, summarizes each candidate’s stand on major issues, and mentions a bit of the history involved here. About Curtis, it says:
Curtis claims Feeney asked him and his former employer, Yang Enterprises, to create a software program in 2000 to rig elections.
The BRAD BLOG broke the Vote-Rigging Software story back in December of 2004 and has reported on many new developments since then. Click here for a good overview of the story.
The BRAD BLOG has also done quite a bit of reporting on Tom Feeney; you can find articles related to Florida’s most ethically-challenged Congressman here.
Feeney has denied any such dealings with Curtis.
Feeney has also refused to take a lie-detector text. So who you gonna believe? Just asking!
According to Curtis, he was fired from his FDOT job because he blew the whistle on illegal billing practices at the FDOT. As previously reported here, his working relationships with his employers seem to have been very good.
“Everyone knows that my facing Feeney in the general election will receive national attention,” he said. “National news agencies and independent bloggers are poised for the epic battle of good versus evil.”
Is Michaud ducking Curtis in order to let that “epic battle” take place? Or is he setting us up for a big surprise?
Stay tuned and find out. Primary Day is four weeks from tomorrow. And things are getting curiouser and curiouser…

Interesting. I thought talk of Andy Michaud was forbidden here. Nice to see an acknowledgement that Curtis has an opponent in the Democratic primary before he can take on Feeney in the general.
Off Topic:
X days before Dubya outtricks Tricky-Dick!
Whose idea was it to post that countdown???
It’s a crackup!
After this countdown expires, is the Bradblog going to do a countdown to the end of Dubya’s term?
Backwards Bush is doing such a countdown!
Anyhow, Bush has two and a half years left before he’s forced to go back to Crawford! Trouble is he’ll destroy the globe by then! Thank you George Dubya!!!
I’ve been working on the Clint Curtis campaign since I heard about him running, and about his history with Feeney – which I was informed about by reading Bradblog. This primary won’t be decided until we receive the “official” vote count the day after the primary. Though the informed Democrats I talk to plan to vote for Clint, most people in this district remain completely uninformed about this race, and what will happen on election day is anyone’s guess. Any and all help you can contribute to Clint’s campaign will be enormously good for your karma. This campaign needs the resources to reach all of the people in this district, and currently the money isn’t there. Clint is not personally a millionaire, and his campaign is not financed by corporate special interests. It’s been financed by hundreds of people who believe in him, sending him 5$ here, and 10$ there. To send one mailer out to the district would cost around $150,000. As of July 1, the campaign reported contributions of less than 10% of that. I’m not trying to sound pessimistic, but the truth is that most people in this district are so busy trying to make ends meet, they can’t spend the time or energy to stay informed. What we need is to send our literature out to everyone in the district, but it won’t happen for free. PLEASE visit Clint’s website http://www.ClintCurtis.com and contribute what you can. I’ve met Clint, and I can tell you honestly, this man’s campaign and his eventual victory is our best hope of saving our democracy. What this country needs now is a man in congress with the knowledge, integrity and courage to make some real and positive changes to our currently insane government. Not only will sending Clint a few bucks make you feel good about doing something to save our country, it may actually be the decisive act that does save our country. Be the difference.
E-vote machines are proven hackable. They are also hackable in primaries. Expect Michaud to win. Clint vs. Feeney would be the most devastating thing to the Republicans. They’ll make sure it doesn’t happen.
Why do we think they won’t? We saw McKinney’s votes flipped in the Dem primary, right?
What is the date of this primary? Can Brad go there or send someone there for the voting?
Florida’s primary is September 5th. I’d like to invite anyone and everyone (at least those who want to help) to pick that time to visit Orlando. The more the merrier! I’ve got room on my couch for ya!
For those Bradblog readers living in and around Seattle, Clint Curtis will be in Seattle Aug 17 for a campaign fundraiser. He will be showing his new documentary film. Please come and show your support. He is flying all this distance because we said we thought we could raise $2500. Now we are not sure. People aren’t responding. So please, if you live in the area come! Aug 17th, 7:00 Seattle Labor Temple, 2800 First Ave. Seattle It is bound to be really interesting. I can’t wait to see the film.
I’m from Seattle, but moved to Orlando a few years ago. I’ve got faith that my peeps in Sea-town are gonna come through in a big way for my man Clint.
Betcha Clint would be a major hit in San Diego, and in some districts in Georgia.
My prediction: Michaud 51% – Curtis 49%.
Why change a winning strategy or alter code that works so well and that nobody complains about (present company excluded, of course).
