A timely reminder from our friend Jay:
The rally is being held to protest the use of insecure voting machines and to urge the registrar of voters and local officials to further investigate and consider alternatives.
Voters are concerned because of severe security breaches in the election due to voting machine “sleepovers” and other hardware/software problems. The United States election system continues to be plagued by security issues regarding computer software and chain of custody breakdowns. Further information on this issue will be available at the rally. Please make your voice heard. Voter confidence is at stake. Count the votes!

Supervisor Haas should be charged with crimes against the voters in CA-50 for knowingly using hackable uncertified machines and failing to protect the security of the machines under his supervision. There is no way ANYONE KNOWS who won the election between Bilbray and Busby. Moreover, Supervisor Haas continues to discourage and obstuct a manual recount to verify the real winner. Ultimately, these are crimes against all Americans as the Bilbray-Busby race was for Congress and the winner’s vote will affect all Americans.
Wish I could be there … it is too many thousands of miles away … I am backing you all!!!
Take cameras and video cams … watch out for the SD police gestapo!
VERIFY THE ELECTION! HAND COUNT THE VOTES!
Keep it simple and on-point.
“…further investigate and consider alternatives”? Are you kidding? Get back on-point!
VERIFY THE ELECTION! HAND COUNT THE VOTES!
After your event, please post a “RECAP” of how things went and any ACTION ITEMS that readers can do.
Thanks.
There were several speakers there, including Barbara Gail Jacobson (requester of the hand count), a computer scientist from San Francisco representing a consortium of comp. scientists, and the lady that suing to get rid of touchscreens in several states. One of the sites mentioned was nosleepovers.org, and bradblog.com as well. One bradblog lurker even wore a homemade bradblog.com t-shirt (not me!) A few news people were there (not as many as I would have liked). The only camera crew was from the local fox news affiliate ( fox6.com ) Maybe they could use some emails explaining some things that have been misrepresented in the local media (such as the fact that only a small percentage of the machines were touchscreens… True, but as we all know, the optical scan machines, the vast majority of the machines used, are just as hackable) I doubt they understood the chain of custody concerns as well. We shall see tonight on the news, I guess.
The more email they get, the more accurate it is probably going to be, although with FOX…
Sorry I’m not very good at taking notes, and regurgitating exactly what happens at these meetings.
There was about 30 people there.
Well, now I have to go be in a slot tournament at a casino. Wish me luck!

Thanks for posting all this, Chris, and good luck!
