That said, investigative journalist and BRAD BLOG friend, Greg Palast, whose new book Armed Madhouse hits the shelves this week has been kind enough to offer us 10 signed copies of the book for use as a premium to contributors here!
Couldn’t come at a better time, frankly, as we are also being forced to expedite some software/design changes sooner rather than later due to increasingly virulent spam/hack attempts that have taken the site down at various times over the last several weeks. They are getting worse, and our hope is the new software will ward off some of those attacks (as well as allowing for many enhancements I’ve been hoping to make for some time — more on all of this later.) To make it all happen sooner, rather than later, however, is going to cost no small amount of money for me, but it’s gotten so bad I’ve got no choice.

UPDATE 6/5/06: Thanks guys! We received 13 donations before I was able to get back here and cut it off, so I’m going to see if I can get 3 more books from GP. Kind of an unrelated point, but pretty critical to everything, and wanted to draw attention to it. the role of the media, the pervasive way it has covered certain partisan items, why, and what to do.

If they don’t allow such discussions about 9/11 then it’s because they have standards and those standards don’t include wild speculation on 9/11 conspiracy theories. Giving credibility to these topics allows critics of liberal blogs to dismiss them as the extremist fringe.

That’s patently false, Chris. I’ve had a number of discussions over there re: 9/11 and deviations from the ‘official story,’ and I’ve been going there since just after its inception.
I’m gonna guess that *you* were banned for (1) being irritating, (2) trolling, or (3) both.

So Palast was in Portland last night. Anyone have comments on the event? I will be seeing him in Seattle tomorrow – hope to see some BradBloggers from Western WA there (tickets available at Elliot Bay Books – $10). I will be videotaping the event, and I will send DVD copy of it to someone/anyone (Brad?) who can post the video on a website. I’ll also take this opportunity to offer the same for the Fitrakis talk that I went to see back in September ’05 as he was promoting his book Did GWBush Steal America’s 2004 Election? It’s about 1.5 hrs long, with Q&A. Riveting, and much of Fitrakis’ research ends up in RFKs article.
