More than 30,000 Iraqis have been forced to flee from their homes after being threatened with death due to sectarian differences. This video from ABC News reports on one Iraqi family that has been forced into exile. While the video doesn’t reflect the magnitude of the problem, it is one of the first reports broadcast to a large American audience.
In the ABC News video report, Professor of Mideast Studies at Sarah Lawrance College Fawaz Gerges says, “This is the beginning of the nightmare.” Fawaz’s experience tells him that Iraq is at the early stages of Bosnia’s ethnic cleansing or Lebanon’s civil war.
On March 22, the Bassem Mroue of AP wrote:
“We urge those wishing to help displaced families to give their offerings to the mosque Donations Committee,” the sign said. Sunnis have come by the hundreds, and dozens more arrive daily.
The second half of the increasingly violent tale can be found among displaced Shiites in the capital, who have fled primarily to be with other Shiites in the Sadr City slum. Followers of radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr were waiting with a huge network already in place.
Even before the shrine bombing, the practice of ethnic displacement had been going on for some time in neighborhoods south of Baghdad. But in the aftermath of the Samarra attack, it has become a nationwide problem in places where the two sects had lived as neighbors.

And who would gain from a divided Iraq engaged in a "civil war" but the occupier/conqueror USA?
Wonder what kind of stupid look Bush has on his face now. He say’s theres no civil war. Ya right dumb ass. What will he call it now a Family camp out?
If our troops do not get out of there they will be wiped out. This is a blunder of Biblical proportions which was totally predictable.
You want to know how to save this bloody situation?
1. Impeach and conduct criminal investigations for the actions of the Bush, Cheney, Rice and the entire Bush administration.
2. The US armed forces must wave the WHITE FLAG throughout IRAQ.
3. Admit to the world about the lies of 911 and attacking IRAQ.
4. Create a world peace keeping force with a 2 (no longer than 3) year plan to fully transfer power to the Iraqi people.
5. Figure out a way to give Iraqi people aid to rebuild their lives.
6. Get the word out that we were mislead by our corrupt government and now we (the United States citizens) are deeply saddened. We will help the best way possible to help Iraq become a self governing nation.
Like I said, we have to stop paying taxes and joining the military…to stop our runaway government. They have unlimited funds taken right out of our pay, against our will, for things we don’t want them to do with our money. They get all their power from our tax money and our military.
Now we’re learning what the word "disassemble" really means.
