Armistice Day — Remembrance Day — Veterans’ Day

On November 11, 1918, World War I finally ended. Of course it wasn’t called that at the time; it was called The Great War. How could anyone have known that it was to be the first of a series? Who could have guessed that barely twenty years would pass before the beginning of the next one?

The day when peace finally arrived was given the name Armistice Day. Thereafter, it was commemorated every year with solemn ceremonies and sacred vows of “Never Again”. My, how things change.

In many English-speaking countries, November 11th is now called Remembrance Day, and it’s still commemorated every year with solemn ceremonies.

I’m feeling extremely solemn myself. Disturbing and graphic content follows.

Please read Chris Floyd’s most recent piece, Fallujah:The Flame of Atrocity

Please also read Gandhi’s most recent, and apparently his last: No More Words

The people who frequent this site should be ashamed of themselves today. Your words and actions endanger the very troops we honor today.

It has gone from "Never again" to "War forever" in the wishes, hopes, and desires of the current criminal administration.

Guess that might be pointing toward and admin controlled by the military-industrial complex?

General and later President Eisenhower said "BEWARE of the military industrial complex".

    To Medium Right

The people who march in lockstep and lack the courage to question the present or any other administration on issues that cause death and suffering should be ashamed. If you don’t like what you see on this site please feel free to go find someone who will agree with you.

    To Medium Right –

There are many ways to honor our military….not letting them lose their limbs, and eyes and life.

If 9/11 and that is a huge IF was done by Osama why haven’t we caught him? Because our forces were undermanned and sent into Iraq instead of staying the course in Afganistan.

Why not avail yourself to the other side and listen to Iraqi Vets Against the War and Vietnam Vets Against the War and Vets For Peace and how about the Coalition of Homeless Vets.

This site explores both sides of an issue not condeming those who disagree.

Also for Medium Wrong, be sure to catch the previous post with the statement from the folks of OpTruth.org — They’re just back from both Iraq and Afghanistan. It seems unlikely they’d wish to "endanger" their fellow troops. Dontcha think?

Buy a clue, friend. Support the troops on Vets Day by taking your head out of the sand for at least a minute or two today.

Bush is now criticizing those who are pushing for investigation into pre-war intelligence, claiming that they are hurting the troops, causing morale problems. He doesn’t seem to realize that many troops themselves know that this was a farce. I was out here in Seattle taking part in the "World Can’t Wait" protests on Nov. 2nd, and one of the participants was a young Army recruit who came to the protest march…IN UNIFORM. And he was interviewed by the local news (the Fox channel even – who happened to do, ironically, the best coverage of the protests that day.) Last I heard, this poor SOB was going to be locked up for a while for public criticism of his C-in-C – but he said it: this was is unjust, immoral, Americans and Iraqis are dying needlessly.

About Bush’s errant criticism of those who believe that prewar intel was fixed: Given the pathological mission to deceive and manipulate the American public, you just KNOW that if they are addressing this issue in this manner (i.e. – relying on emotion, patriotism, etc.) there is truth in the accusation. At last, the Democrats are showing some spine. Let’s see how long it lasts. If Kennedy becomes too much of a bugbear on this, maybe he’ll be the next one to go down in a light plane crash over some midWestern wilderness….

The absolute saddest part: Both sides in Europe were about out of supplies and funds and ready to negotiate a ceasefire…until Big Brother USA jumped in to prolong the war! Thanks, America! Then, at the end of it all, ol’ USA saved the day again by imposing cruel punitive measures on rotten ol’ Germany…boy did that show ’em! Destroyed their economy to the point that they would accept help and guidance from anyone–ANYONE–even Hitler. Whew! Thanks again, America! THEN, after Hitler got in there and sufficiently screwed things up for Germany and their neighbors (from which the USA was gracious, benevolent, and deified enough to hop in and save them…with the help of Russia, of course), the whole area got split up and Russia got huge chunks of Eastern Europe…Cold War, anyone?

By, I sure am glad the USA has been around for the last century to impose their foreign policy on, well–everyone. They always do such a good job! Spread that freedom thick, boys!

Ever wonder why we waited so long to confront the Nazis head on in Europe? Maybe we were’nt ready til D-Day, or maybe by that point it became so glaringly obvious that Stalin was rolling up the Germans and the rest of Western Europe so fast that if we didn’t do something to meet the commies halfway we would be faced with a communist EURASIA with the resources to starve us into submission or at best a third word exsitence. One or the other. But thank you to the guys who killed some Germanns in the effort to stop the Russians from owning our asses. And especially thanks to those of The Great War who really believed that they were the last to die on such an appallingly inhuman scale. May your blood fertilize the seeds of a better word so that your deaths were not in vain.

You said "Bush is now criticizing those who are pushing for investigation into pre-war intelligence, claiming that they are hurting the troops, causing morale problems".

And he praises Bill O’Reilly who said on the record that al-Qaida should be allowed to bomb those voting precincts in San Francisco that voted in a manner he does not approve (link here).

Uh … lets see … kill al-Qaida everywhere except back at home in an american city?

    The Winter Socialist writes:

Yes, who would have guessed that a guy named Adolph would take away guns from Jews then guns from his own people and then murder an estimated 6 million of Brad’s Jewish brethren?

Today, we are fighting an enemy that wants the total destruction of Brad’s Jewish brethren along with those who help them, mainly Americans. If you are an American, they think you are a Christian too [Our enemy is ignorant]. So, our enemy wants all of us dead. Support the war on terrorism! Support our troops! Support our president! We just may be in WW3 already.

PAUL, you can’t get away with changing your name. You’re still our favorite imbecile troll.

The only people who believe we should attack all muslims for 9/11 are people who haven’t studied enough to understand that:

… Even if you don’t believe the official 9/11 story is bunkum – – the perpertrators were ACTUALLY linked to SAUDI ARABIA. Oh, but the bushies are in bed with these folks — my bad.

… The US occupation and meddling with Middle Eastern countries is the root cause of animosities from the Islamic people. — Oh, but the bushies are fighting to get their oil — my bad.

… WW3? Just look to the neoCONS and their imperialistic motives.

THANK YOU SO MUCH PNAC-ers and NEOCON supporters (like Paul.)

    Sweet dreams.
