Cindy is so right that anger needs to turn to hope. But anger also needs be anger, too. If enough people join together in anger that is righteous and justified, anger can be part of the way to hope. I think that’s part of what Cindy meant, perhaps.
I don’t know, Kestrel. The whole revolving-door, greedy military/business complex/ power elite smells to high heaven. It lives on connections.

Question about the download…… I just downloaded this one with Cindy, and it was over 12 minutes long (it says on my player) and seemed to download OK and get at least most of it (It quit after she talked about baking cookies…… is that the end?)
The interview with Sherole Eaton says over 12 minutes also, took much longer to download, and cuts off the interview before she tells what happens in her office.
Is something wrong?
How can I get the rest of the Eaton interview?

While I haven’t had the time yet to try the downloads you mentioned, I have had a problem with other ones not being complete when they opened with Quicktime. I copied the web address and pasted into my winamp player and they worked fine.

Arry #5 re Phil #3 … imho the anger provides the drive and the hope provides the direction and there has to be both otherwise … if there’s only hope and no anger then we’re a bunch of wishful little morons sitting on the couch eating too much junk food and flipping channels … and if there’s only anger and no hope then we could burn down a city or two but what would that achieve? so [again imho] there has to be both and there has to be a lot of each … but that’s just mho of course 😉

Wp, Arry: wonderful thoughts. Triad: love, anger, hope.
Right now the anger is so painful, very much like a physical pain. The words of love and hope help a lot.
Not to overdo the philosophical stuff, but we probably should talk about it at times — To comment on Phil and WP — Anger as shared pain – shared in love, bringing us together. A mover. An enemy of lethargy. A common experience of being human and a nutrient in the process of growth.
For people’s political action:
Anger – the spark and the fire (enveloped in hope and love)
Hope – the vision
Love – the encompassing principle of life and the only true reason for action
Intertwined, a unit, an entity — allowing us to survive, prevail, grow, and blossom.
(I’ll get back on track. Doesn’t hurt to think about these things sometimes.) 🙂
Sorry, I can’t stop. Intelligence has to be in there, but believe it or not, it is a function of love. How’s that? Because love is not only encompassing, it entails a love of reality, of the details of life, of the real world – even of the processes of thought. That’s why intelligence is sexy and militaristic fantasies and hypocrisy are so banal and suffocating.

Those who know me might be getting tired of hearing this, but I’ll say it again because it’s appropriate here.
When you strip away all the extraneous "stuff" in life, you are left with two choices – change it, or accept it. That’s it – two choices, and they apply to everything.
That which you cannot change, you accept.
If you keep silent on an issue, however angry you get, your acceptance is tacit. If you make no effort towards changing something, you are accepting it – BY CHOICE.
In our lives, we all go through fires – that’s just part of being human. It is our choice whether we come out of that fire as ash, or as tempered steel. Anger purifies, it energizes, it gives strength when there is no hope left – but ONLY if you USE it to change that which you can not accept.
That’s what we’re doing here – we are changing that which we can not accept.
I’m proud to be part of the "6 or 7", to be part of a growing movement that says, "We’ve had enough!!", to be part of such a wonderful and caring group of humans that is giving it all they’ve got to make this country, this WORLD, even better than we found it.

Well, George and I are leaving Crawford today. George is finished playing golf and telling his fables in San Diego , so he will be heading to Louisiana to see the devastation that his environmental policies and his killing policies have caused. Recovery would be easier and much quicker if almost 1⁄2 of the three states involved National Guard were not in Iraq. All of the National Guard’s equipment is in Iraq also. Plus, with the 2 billion dollars a week that the private contractors are siphoning from our treasury, how are we going to pay for helping our own citizens in Louisiana , Mississippi, and Alabama? And, should I dare say "global warming?" and be branded as a "conspiracy theorist" on top of everything else the reich-wingers say about me.
