“The only Members of Congress whom you or your expressly designated officers may brief regarding classified or sensitive law enforcement information,” he writes, “are the Speaker of the House, the House Minority Leader, the Senate Majority and Minority Leaders, and the Chairs and Ranking Members of the Intelligence Committees in the House and Senate.”
The order is aimed at protecting “military security” and “sensitive law enforcement.”
But what was said to be an effort to protect the United States became a tool by which the Republican chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Pat Roberts (R-KS) ensured there was no serious investigation into how the administration fixed the intelligence that took the United States to war in Iraq or the fabricated documents used as evidence to do so.
Coupled with limited access to intelligence documents, RAW STORY has found that Roberts and a handful of other strategically-placed Washington players stymied all questions into pre-war intelligence on Iraq and post-invasion cover-ups, including the outing of a CIA covert agent, by using targeted leaks and artfully deflecting blame from the White House.

I just read that article and now I think our government is much more screwed up than anyone can possibly realize. Except for the obvious, that Roberts is playing ball with the White House Repubs, I’m not sure what there is to make of this report. Incidentally, I’m glad to see Rockefeller appears from the report to be one of the White hats.

The battle of the CIA and the White House is curious in that CIA headquarters is named for it’s former chief, George H. W. Bush and the White House boss is George W. Bush. It brings to mind ancient Greek mythology or Freudian psychiatry.
Mostly it just seems clear that with the Internet the mainstream media can no longer "fail" to report on important national issues to keep the public in the dark. The Internet reporters and bloggers are keeping the real discussion alive. In the days of Kennedy this ‘conspiracy’ might’ve been swept under the rug, but it’s not so easy today.
This wasn’t on Lou Dobbs/CNN…more lead stories trumping up a war with Iran. The MSM is complicent in all of this.

Abramoff and his other advisors were there on the boat when the hijackers were. Conceivably they also knew Mohammed Atta well. Because Abramoff has lied to everyone the whole time about his background, its quite a shock.
He also staged a huge fraudulent coverup with Amy Elizabeth Ridernour, and senior members of the Council for National Policy. They defrauded casinos, bribed Tom DeLay and many state legislatures.

Until the sane folk in the GOP cast out the neocons they are going to be getting closer and closer to complicity in the many bu$hit admin crimes.
And the recent election in a very heavily republican district, being ever so close in official tallies, should be a signal to them.
The pork in the Hiway bill is not going to save them this time.
The 06 election is going to cost them dearly if the voters associate them with the crime spree.
Part of the problem is that the "Establishment" Democrats are in on it, too. Kerry has covered for Bush in the past, and even Kristol had admitted that Kerry was a safe bet compared to non -neocon Republicans.
I think part of the problem has to do with Kosovo, where we saw the same sort of effort by Blair and Clinton to force a war. Tenet is also a common thread here.
Theirs is a power-sharing agreement… and whenever possible, the media and leadership in both parties try to focus on superficial differences like "style" and "personality." The goal, and this has been quite clear for some time now, is to strip benefits (both employee benefits and government assistance) and squeeze families for as much labor as possible and to prevent common people from building any wealth that can be transferred to the next generation. This is exemplified in the structure of the professional lobbyists in DC, firms often represent both sides of an issue. They take money from both parties, frame and spin the debate in a way that shifts the focus onto superficialities and sound bites, and laugh all the way to the bank.
It’s getting harder to vote, to save money, to own anything, or to get a good education. The only thing that has gotten easier is having sex, watching TV, going to jail, or going to one of the fake "churches" that are taking over. This is reflected in the consistently growning gap between rich and poor.
Nobody wants to see fundamental reforms take place except the grassroots folks in both parties… and as long as we focus on superficial differences in style (Democrats are evil lying hippie dixie chick-loving cowards, Republicans are evil racist pea-brained Toby Keith-loving curmudgeons) we will remain stuck in the ruts, unable to talk to each other and unite behind the common cause of reform.
