They were as sharp as ever last night. Still the best news program on television. Period.
The first two segments last night were devoted to Rove, natch. And here was one of our favorite moments:
STEPHEN COLBERT: Well, Bush has a real problem on his hands now, Jon. What honor should he bestow on Karl Rove?
STEWART: Did you say “what honor?”
COLBERT: Yes, Jon…George “Slam Dunk” Tenet got us into Iraq on mistaken intel — he got the Medal of Freedom. Condi Rice sees a memo warning “Bin Laden Determined to Attack the United States”, ignores it — BOOM! — gets kicked upstairs to Secret of State…For a bungle this bad, I think we might be looking at Chief Justice Karl Rove. Jon?
Crooks and Liars has the full video coverage…

I thought it was even funnier, when Rob Cordrey was the correspondent. Jon Stewart asked him if Bush’s War on Terror wasn’t successful, since terrorist bombings have skyrocketed since the Iraq War. Cordrey said something to this effect:
"That’s the genius of having countries in the coalition, no matter how few people they send. He invented the "coalition of the bombable", so the terrorists would bomb the other countries in Bush’s coalition, and not us. Britain’s bombing is an example". I couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t think I quoted it word-for-word, but you get the jist…
America: Comedy shows offer more reliable information about war crimes, the rule of law, and White House corruption than the newsmedia.
I hope they keep Rove at the White House, so he can drag them all down like an anchor.
Chief Justice Rove–makes good sense. It’s from old Gilbert and Sullivan. ‘Let the benefit fit the crime’.
Time to get old Rove off the sinking ship of state and into the sinking life raft.
I’ve started to watch Jon Stewart as a source of news, especially on the matters involving government. Far from being a fake anchor man, he does a much better job than the MSM which refuses to broach the subject.
