You really have to wonder what Brad would say about this:
Dean renews call for bush to return tainted cash
Last week, it was revealed that troubled Bush fundraiser Thomas Noe used his influence to attend a strategy session with Bush-Cheney ’04 officials and also that the fundraiser who helped organize a lunch for the President appeared before a grand jury investigating the event. At least one attendee was later reimbursed by Noe so that they could attend the lunch, a clear violation of campaign finance laws.
“This is further proof of the Republican Party’s culture of corruption,” said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. “Noe raised vast sums for Bush, sometimes using questionable methods and was granted access to the President’s top campaign aides. Republicans in Ohio and Washington have made this pay-to-play atmosphere par for the course. I again call on President Bush to return all money raised by Noe for his campaigns.”
but I have a pretty good idea what he would say about this:
Thomas Noe, the man embroiled in at least six separate corruption investigations has been called “the man for Republicans to see in Northwest Ohio” If Noe’s influence was confined to Ohio, Americans could be spared another round of corruption investigations with connections to national Republican leaders. Unfortunately Noe’s connections reach high up into the halls of Republican power. But of the $100,000 or more raised by Noe for Bush’s campaign, just a small portion has been refunded. The Noe allegations are yet another encroaching scandal on the Bush Administration, which has five large fundraisers under federal investigation so far. Bush could clean up the mess by returning the money raised by these individuals and disassociating himself from them.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun, and we’re going to celebrate four more years of President Bush.”
-Thomas Noe. [Toledo Blade, 1/19/05]
and … well … it’s hard not to wonder whether he’s seen any of this yet.
But don’t worry. We’ll make sure he sees it.

Gold coins don’t leave a paper trail. Maybe that was the whole point of the Ohio Workmen’s Compensation Board buying Noe’s coin collection to the tune of $50 million…it could then be sent to the Bush campaign without being traceable.
What I can’t figure out is how they thought they could get away with it. The missing $13 million wasn’t hard to notice. Did they assume Republican control of the Attorney General’s office would keep it under wraps?
The Toledo Blade is one heroic newspaper.
Even if all the money is returned there’s no way to turn the clock back in terms of any access, influence or favours received.
Just returning the money is not a "punishment." Consequences would have to be far more serious to have an impact.
Besides, who would the money be returned to? Ohio RNC coffers? Individual donors? Talk about having your cake and eating it, too!!!
So–if Bush is to give up these illegal campaign contributions, where should the funds go? (I don’t see them being donated to charity, somehow.)
My guess is the real reason Tom Noe met with Karl Rove that day and advisors, was to figure out how to get the illegal money used for the Ohio election fraud in their coffers without being sniffed.
Amateurs if you ask me. The Ohio fraud is like staring right through a window.

The money returned from bush (not nearly what he received) plus all other illegal contributions should be returned to a special fund that can hire ‘special investigator’ that are themselves investigated prior to hire to assure they nor their companies have supported or donated to any political cause at any time ‘ever’. This ‘special investigator’ would be tasked with investigating all reports of fraud both in campaign funding and voting.
We need this type of group since it’s been proven by the recent DOJ Ohio investigation that they are unable to do their jobs because they’re crooked assholes run by this adminstration.
Howard Dean, Brad, Jon Conyers, Barbara Boxer to name a few…because there are only a few speaking out for us. Love ’em!
Brad or Winter Patriot-
I may be interested in purchasing the 700= document book on the 04 election, what does it contain. Can you summarize a little.
Respectfully,
Charlie
Doug, either you are accidently posting with my name or impersonating me. Either way I’d appreciate it if you stop.
Other then what I’ve already seen here, I got to add that it seems Karl Rove would have to talk about his role in election fraud soon.
If he is indeed taken out and indicted, they will probably want to know exactly what he told Thomas Noe and when he told it.
This whole situation is quite serious, and I imagine there is a number of co-conspirators with Rove in election fraud. They did it because of treason related crimes and needing to cover it up.
So and its what I would be asking, especially if I were a special counsel….How many times did he phone Andy Card or operatives like Tom Noe on election day and when the exit polls flipped?
Scott
Hi Charlie: This description comes from the freepress.org website:
I can’t find anything more detailed about it. But I’ll let you know if I do.
Or Howzabout this? You buy the book and tell us what’s in it! 😉
Of course if several other Bradbloggers bought the book — and/or some other books — Brad’s permissions might be restored fairly soon 😉 … but otherwise not ;-(

For Catherine A: The money would be returnable to the Ohio Workmen’s Compensation Fund, a state agency financed by the taxpayers. The fund paid Noe $50 million for his coins (effectively, the citizens of Ohio bought the coins) which were then placed under Noe’s management as fiduciary to the fund itself (a conflict of interest, of course).
Suddenly $13 million vanished. The suspicion is that it went to the Republican party, and some of it might have gone to Bush’s campaign directly. It’s a very similar scandal to the Whiskey Ring (under Ulysses S. Grant in 1875) and Teapot Dome (under Warren G. Harding in 1923).
Grant and Harding, both born in Ohio, are American’s two lowest-rated presidents, primarily because their administrations were scandal-ridden. Bush is their intellectual and ethical soulmate.
