Perhaps Feinstein, a corporate-money Democrat, was not the appropriate choice to place atop a surfboard, riding what is shaping up to be a very progressive Democratic wave — a point reflected by the fact that she received only 37% of the CA Democratic Party endorsement vote, as compared to 54% for her far more progressive opponent, State Senator Kevin de Leon. (Because CA Democratic Party rules require a 60% vote, neither candidate received a formal endorsement.)
In this year of progressive change, Feinstein’s $3 million campaign war chest may work to her disadvantage. 2018 is shaping up to be an election year in which growing numbers of citizens within the electorate are repulsed by the nefarious impact money has on our political system.
Where Feinstein was loudly mocked for opposition to single-payer healthcare, de Leon is an outspoken proponent of Medicare for All, a position that has garnered union endorsements.
That had me confused too Ernest. It should have been an unknown democrat on the surfboard.
