“In an age of universal deceit,” George Orwell once wrote, “telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” That act is now drawing crowds in the thousands — far larger than any other candidate, Democratic or Republican, in the race for their respective party’s 2016 nomination for President of the United States.

The phenomenon known as “Bernie-mentum” could be just the beginning. Bernie Sanders, who is more the focal point of a democratic revolutionary movement than the leader of a presidential campaign, appears to be tapping into what historian Howard Zinn described in A Power Governments Cannot Suppress as “an aroused citizenry.”

We are seeing the power of social media and the exponential growth of the Sanders revolution grow to challenge what Noam Chomsky describes as the “democracy deficit” — the significant gap between the policy positions of the electorate and their “representatives”, occasioned by the manner in which “elections are skillfully managed to avoid issues and marginalize the underlying population…freeing the elected leadership to serve the substantial people.” Even now, long before the first debate, Hillary’s advisers informed The New York Times that they fear Sanders “could move past her in Iowa polls by fall and even defeat her there.”

Hillary and, later, Republicans will rely on huge sums to pay for slick political ads. Yet, Sanders is banking on his hope that no amount of ad money can be effective against an “informed” and aroused working and middle class electorate — one that includes the 63% who did not vote in the last election.

Every new Sanders event not only serves to convince those in attendance to vote for Sanders. They add thousands of new activists to the burgeoning movement. Whether that will be enough to translate into electoral victories remains to be seen. But, as Sanders argues near the end of this video created by his grassroots supporters: “When millions of people stand up and fight, they win.” #FeelTheBern

You heard it here first, me hearties….i could see exactly where the Bernie bandwagon would be heading, it was as CLEAR AS DAY in my heart and mind from the very beginning….anyone can foresee the future – fun for the whole family….all it takes is a simple and correct understanding of the present!….extrapolation does the rest….them laughably worthless fuckface buffoons in corporate media “telling” us “the news” haven’t been right about a SINGLE GODDAMN THING in world events since Cronkite!!….know why??….because they DON’T (or won’t) fathom the present, making the future stunningly incomprehensible to them….the Roves and the Matalins and the Carvilles and the Blatherskites are all overpaid to endlessly rehash the misinterpreted past, and are stumped! and blindsided!! by phenomena like the Sanders campaign, which only require an open mind and heart to understand completely….so easy….

    GO !!

All in for Bernie. I’d empty my bank account for him if I didn’t have kids. Well, within reason. I’m displaying Bernie signs in my bedroom windows, here in redneckville WA, Bernie stickers on both my cars, Bernie t-shirt while I’m gathering signatures for I-735 (WA AmendWA)…hoping to generate some “Who is Bernie?” conversation over the next 1.5 years.

I have already resolved to vote for Hillary of those are the cards, because I can’t fathom the next 2-4 justices being replaced by a Republican…(sorry Jill Stein, not this time around)

I wonder if they’re allowing cameras into Scott Walkers announcement today. There’s no way the crowd is going to be as big as the one in this post’s photo.

    Soul Rebel:

I have a Sander’s T-shirt too and I would expect a lot of, “Who is Bernie?” responses. That’s the great thing though: lots of people have no idea who he is yet, and he’s getting these unbelievable crowds everywhere!

Bernie Sanders Draws Largest Crowd to date in the Red state of Arizona. By John Roberts Brakey of AUDIT-AZ.

RED STATE ARIZONA? Saturday, presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders told the audience at the Phoenix Convention Center. “When we were coming to Arizona, someone said Arizona is a conservative state. Somebody told me that people are giving up on the political process. Not what I see hear tonight. I cannot believe this crowd.”

According to Phoenix Fire Marshal, the count was 11,347. Last week Donald Trump had 4,169 and in this reddest of states.

In the beginning Sanders’ candidacy is considered a long shot to upset Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, however, his populist prescription for America’s economic condition has resonated with many on the left, center and some on right to “FEEL the BURN”.

Jesse Ventura feels the “Bern.”The professional wrestler turned former Minnesota governor wrote on Off The Grid that he would help presidential candidate Bernie Sanders anyway he could and hopes he’s successful in his longshot presidential primary challenge to Hillary Clinton.

“What this campaign is about is saying that our great country and our government belong to all of the people and not a handful of billionaires,” Sanders said.

“My Republican friends think that the CEOs of large corporations are the job-creators,” he said. “You know who the job creators are? You are the job creators. When working people have money in their pocket, they go out and they buy goods and they buy services, and when they do that, they create jobs. But when millions of people have nothing to spend, we’re not creating the jobs that we need.”

Sanders: “I really strongly disagree with this concept that there’s a blue state and red state America,” he told In These Times in an interview that year. “I believe that in every state in the country the vast majority of the people are working people. These are people who are struggling to keep their heads above water economically, these are people who want Social Security defended, they want to raise the minimum wage, they want changes in our trade policy. And to basically concede significant parts of America, including the South, to the right-wing is to me not only stupid politics, but even worse than that—you just do not turn your backs on millions and millions of working people.”
