{"id":6090,"date":"2008-06-18T18:56:33","date_gmt":"2008-06-19T01:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=6090"},"modified":"2008-06-20T02:26:54","modified_gmt":"2008-06-20T09:26:54","slug":"two-house-judiciary-members-hint-at-consequences-for-rove-if-he-doesnt-answer-subpoena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bbnewdb.webbyspice.com\/?p=6090","title":{"rendered":"Two House Judiciary Members Hint at &#8216;Consequences&#8217; for Rove if He Doesn&#8217;t Answer Subpoena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/RoveFrogmarch.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\">Is the photo at left beginning to seem less and less absurd?<\/p>\n<p>Looks like we&#8217;re headed for an interesting game of chicken next month in the House Judiciary Committee surrounding Rove&#8217;s subpoena to appear before it to answer questions in the Don Siegelman affair (and perhaps others) on July 10. <a href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/news08\/2008\/06\/18\/rep-warns-of-consequences-if-rove-laughs-at-congressional-subpoena\/\">RAW has the story<\/a> worth putting on your radar, with no less than two House Judiciary members hinting that they may be willing to take extra steps (e.g., use of &#8220;inherent contempt&#8221; to have Rove arrested by the House Sergeant at Arms if need be) should he refuse to testify.<\/p>\n<p>If Rove refuses to appear, says Rep. Wasserman-Schultz, &#8220;then we have to take the next step.&#8221; And Rep. Sanchez notes, &#8220;We really need to set our foot down and show there are consequences to people who laugh in the face of Congressional subpoenas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tea leaves sure, but interesting ones, worth watching. The point is also made that the Committee may continue with this particular investigation, even as a new President takes office. Would be a whole different ballgame under those conditions.
