Throwing It All Away: Trump’s Troops Target Academics, Soldiers’ Families, More: ‘BradCast’ 2/27/2017

On today’s BradCast, I’ll be your guest host, Angie Coiro. Would you like to sit at the bar? Maybe not a bad idea.

Have you had the Trump/Russia links up to here? You have a friend in RJ Eskow, host of The Zero Hour. He’s not convinced; he advises skepticism and clear thinking when it comes to sorting the proven from the unproven.

With people fleeing America over the northern border in fear, with at least one report of a man who killed himself rather than be forced back into Mexico, with an Oscar-nominated cinematographer kept out of the US, and a Holocaust scholar from France almost deported — it’s time to take a long look at sanctuary cities, emboldened local police forces, and how to stay focused on resistance. Heralded civil rights attorney/activist Jim Brosnahan of Morrison & Forster in San Francisco, and Heather “Digby” Parton of Hullabaloo take on the many facets of that disaster.

Finally, Dave Johnson of Seeing the Forest and The Campaign for America’s Future deconstructs Trump’s promised tax cuts, and their connection to failing infrastructure.

  1. Third parties in America. It’s obvious that a two party system is deeply flawed. And yet, voting for a third party splits the (Democrat) vote and empowers the Republicans.

Third parties traditionally give voice to people and ideals not addressed by entrenched, corporate sponsored politics. And yet, as we see today, that voice is stifled and often ignored, EVEN when in the context of one of the two major parties, as happened last election cycle with Bernie Sanders.

Why not take a page from the parliamentary system? In Canada, when the Liberals and the NDP have more seats than the Conservatives, they form a coalition party, and the leader of the party with the most seats becomes the Prime Minister. So, even if the Conservatives won more seats than either of their opponents, THEY are forced out of power. They represent the majority of the people. What could be more democratic?

I’ve been hearing the same lame debate about 3rd parties in America for decades. People STILL blame Ralph Nader, and who can blame them? But how would the world look today if Al Gore had been President, with Nader as VP? Instead of GW Bush and Dick Cheney? The environment would be in better shape. That’s a given
