A gift of an idea for the new year to help solve some of society’s problems:
Speech = Right
Money = Speech
Money =- Right
Where’s my money?
Since speech is a right guaranteed under our Constitution and money has somehow been manipulated to be equal to speech then by the mathematical transitive law then money is a right guaranteed by our Constitution.
We should then apply this newly discovered right to minimum wage that is a living wage based on the costs of the community, not on some random number determined by Congress, and/or a minimum income (whether you are able to work or not). (A minimum income would provide an incentive for businesses to hire workers so as not to have to pay higher taxes). Since money provides the goods and services we need then all basic services like health care, general utilities, a minimum amount of clothing (for the climate of your community, living necessities (fresh water and clean air) and education should also be a right and therefore be provided as a right to all citizens.
The next question is how to pay for all these services. Since this newly discovered right has come as a result of the expansion of electoral donations, I think that electoral donations should be taxed to help provide them, let’s say at a 50% rate, so for every $1M check $500K goes to help pay for the right to money.
This right can be easily removed if Conservatives do not like the idea by creating a Constitutional amendment that says that money is not equal to speech.
