In case you can’t read it, the text of the identical letters, believed to contain deadly ricin — as sent last week to President Barack Obama, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and to his gun safety organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (as well as to an Air Force Base and the CIA) from a Shreveport, LA post office — follows below…
Well, that tears it! I’m convinced by his water-tight argument. We must fight to ensure every American — just like the guy who wrote the letter above — is able to buy any weapon he likes, with as much ammo as he likes, with as many magazines, of any size, as he likes, with no oversight, tracking or background checks whatsoever! I see no down side.
It is, after all, a “constitutional God given right” and who are we to put limits on what God wants (and wrote directly into our Constitution)?
Sure, laugh now. But, to paraphrase, “First they came for the attempted assassins,” etc…
Rachel Maddow’s quick take on the above, and a spate of similar incidents of late, follows below…

Setting aside the extent to which the troubled author of the Ricin letters has been duped by a willful misinterpretation of the Second Amendment, I find it curious that anyone would believe that rights that are supposedly protected by the U.S. Constitution — a secular document that mandates separation of church and state — are “God given.”
Can we get another [sic] by the uncapitalized and unapostrophed whats?
And yeah, the ‘Constitutional God given right’ concept just baffles me. And these people think they understand anything about America. They just know ‘Murica!’
Pretty good tongue in cheek. Funny take on the crazy act.
Well, Mr. Moron letter sender: What your letter convinces me is that you need to be in super max for the next 100+ years for manufacturing a weapon of mass destruction, making terrorist threats, attempted assassination of a president, and transmission of a destructive device via federal mails.
Sounds like a trigger-happy gun toter, exactly the kind the legislators want to control…..and they wonder why we don’t want them to freely purchase and own any and every kind of gun they want! God help the country.
What lab was the ricin traced to? Not one whiff of an investigation. Unless you have more info, you are presuming a lot to say the letter had anything to do with a genuine threat to the illustrious politicians. Now Maddow gets hysterical over anything so her analytical abilities are kaput.
